  1. Vey interesting - I did a similar analysis a while back of all Ovation accidents, not just fatal (i'm looking for the results I know they're somewhere...) - A large percentage were landing accidents due to bouncing and botched go arounds. When I find it I'll post it.
  2. I have an inogen G5 that I use anytime above 8k. I've been up to 18k with it and my sats are in the 90's. My Ovation doesn't have Factory 02. I have an Aerox bottle for passengers. I love the Inogen - best solution out there. Refilling the Aerox bottle is a PIA and the prices are all over the map.
  3. Yes, @donkaye, MCFI - I regularly fly 10-17K in my Ovation that doesn’t have factory O2. I have an Inogen G5 and it is spectacular to all the altitudes I fly (up to 18k). I have a supplemental tank which is for passengers. The Inogen is so easy and convenient I generally use it any time I’m above 7k. Why not! Couldn’t recommend it enough.
  4. No problems with mine either. Love it.
  5. Just to follow up and to maybe point @Reed Campbell in the right direction - Sent the controller board to Don Maxwell who fixed it for a few hundred dolllars. Has worked perfectly even since.
  6. Go to the app store, search for Garmin Pilot and choose "Update"
  7. I've been using GP for quite a while. I've always preferred it over FF but these smart charts are a killer feature. Love it! The video @midlifeflyerposted is a good example of its use (if you can bear the presenters).
  8. Going to have to agree with @donkaye, MCFI. While the G1000 is a fine and capable system, it's getting a little dated. I fly a lot of IFR and would absolutely not buy one without WAAS. I know that there are folks that don't fly the same profile as I do and to whom WAAS capability is not critical. I have all the latest avionics in mine G3X, 345, 750, GFC500 remote audio panel etc etc. and I couldn't be happier. And even my 4-year-old panel is not state of the art anymore! My 750 has been superseded by the 705Xi.....I love having the ability to upgrade if I want to (although 750 to 750xi is not a priority). Whatever you get - its a Mooney and you'll love it! Good Luck!
  9. Boresope. Also, lapping the cylinders might really help. Flying it and running the engine and operating it properly will help the most. As long as compressions are above the master orifice youre OK, I believe.
  10. Come to Vegas and I’d be happy to oblige
  11. Does anyone a digital copy of the maintenance manual for an Ovation?
  12. Its a menu selection when go into the audio panel controls on your 750. I'll be out at my plane tomorrow and I'll take a picture for you.
  13. Did this just happen and it was working normally before? Make sure your aux input is activated on the remote audio panel
  14. After repair and before
  15. Mike, thats true. I’m just one of these people that doesn’t believe in “deferred maintenance”. If something’s broke, airworthy or not, its gets fixed. While it does result in more maintenance downtime (although he dispatch rate of my O3 is pretty good) it makes for predictable and less expensive annuals.
  16. I just got my bird back from Lone Mountain (now All In) and they did a spectacular job of fixing the strip. They are also sticklers for the book. Apparently Mooney requires a 24 hours cure period on the adhesive and a test flight with stall (which I can do as Part 92 - just need to note in the book that it was completed satisfactorily). Took them 2.7 hours to complete the repair.
  17. Do you have a GFC500?
  18. Ah! That’s where I remember seeing it!
  19. Ed, I fly my O3 almost identically to you - I usually cruise in the 15k+ range and like to set 2550 RPM. Also, I follow the Deakin guidance and lean to 1250 on the EGT while climbing WOT everything forward (its what he recommends if taking off from a higher altitude airport - KHND is 2491 MSL)
  20. Does anyone know what the fuel tank capacity on an ovation is if I fill it up tight to the top of the filler. I’ve heard 49 gallons but I cant find any reference. I know it’s 89 usable which is 44.5 g per side just wondering if thats to the rim or to the bottom of the filler sleeve. I have a nasty fuel leak on the left tank (as in not, drip, drip but worse) when above 22 Gallons. No leak at all 22G or less. It 100% has to get fixed. I have an appointment to get it patched but its going to be a little while for availability and I have some XC flights I will have to make before then
  21. I’m bringing this old discussion to the forefront because I’d be interested to know if anyone has any information on whether there is actually a fuel imbalance limit? Could I fly with 20 gallons in one tank and 44 in another?
  22. I fell asleep after first paragraph. What exactly are you asking, and are you a person or a bot?
