  1. I will mirror everyone elses comments. I have a complete Garmin panel with G3X and EIS. The EIS is fine, i think the 930 is terrific but the integration is what of Garmin is what I love
  2. I know the FBO's at Conroe (KCXO) Galaxy FBO and General Aviation Jet Services both offer overnight hangar space.
  3. This is fantastic!!! Look forward to seeing more!
  4. I used FF and the Trip Assistant quite a bit when I was scheduling flights for our Gulfstream and it was very useful. Sold the GS last January (thankfully). I use GP with the Mooney (last few years). Prefer GP but GP Web is very poor in comparison. GP is an excellent EFB - just different in interface to FF. Has some features FF is lacking and is missing some great FF features as well.
  5. Yeah, I was wondering if that was the case - but then he talks about Acclaim(s)...
  6. What on earth is this guy talking about? As a Vref subscriber, I'm really worried LOL.... https://vref.com/news/episode-19-the-ladder-is-gone-why-new-aircraft-no-longer-make-sense-the-way-they-used-to-1-14-26/
  7. My Ovation has 1100#. Very useful indeed!
  8. I’m 6’ and 270. I’m not “narrow” by any definition of the word. I get in and out of my Ovation with no issues whatsoever. That said, I have developed a unique “fat man roll” technique to ingress and egress that involves sort of rolling over the right seat on the way. Whatever works! My Ovation is supremely comfortable when I’m in. Love it! Meantime, I’ll chime in on the Turbo discussion (as I don’t own one and therefore I’m uniquely qualified to know everything). I love my Ovation because it gives me”turbo like” performance. Especially with the 310HP STC in place. For 90% of my flying I wouldn’t want anything else. However, I take the long way to Denver (HND - APA) via the southern route because I’m not flying over the Rockies , which I am loathe to do regardless. I climb well up to about 18k and get good TAS in the 172-175 KTAS range on 11 GPH or so at that altitude. So, it works well for my mission, but it’s NOT a turbo. If my mission has me routinely departing high DA or routinely flying over large, high mountain ranges, a turbo would be great. For my usual mission of HND to CXO, HND to EUG etc I’m fine with NA. Yes, it would be nice to cruise at 20k with a big tailwind and have the option of 65-70% power but the issue is that when I come back the other way, headwinds will prevail and I’ll want to cruise lower and at the lower altitudes, my O3 shines. So, like everything, a trade off. That said, my next bird will likely be a turbo - either an Encore or Acclaim S. As for the extra costs for a turbo, yes, its an engine with more bits and pieces so it will be nominally more expensive but labor is the single largest maintenance cost regardless and that hourly rate is the same regardless of Turbo or NA. If you think your mission would be better completed with a turbo, get one! You won’t regret it. Generally, people who buy NA and find out its not quite the right choice will wish for a turbo, but people who by turbos and find out they probably didn't need one are unlikely to wish for a NA. Regardless, you’ll love whatever Mooney you choose! IMO Acclaim S and Encore are 2 of the best GA birds out there (along with O, of course!).
  9. Yes, you’re right. Al Mooney was 12’ 9” and flew wearing a top hat while smoking a clay pipe. And he fit in Mooney Mite!
  10. Hi Cliffy, hope to see you around next time I pop into SGU for breakfast!
  11. Is the VS setting overriding the GS?
  12. Thanks! It works again!
  13. I didn’t have much success with the side rear window(s) plus it kept falling off of the suction mounts. I just throw it on the glare shield. Looks like crap but it works like a charm.
  14. Picked up my Ovation yesterday. They did a great job. Took 11 days drop off to pickup. Communication with the office was excellent and Scott was was available anytime I wanted to discuss something with him. Bill was itemized to 15 minute increments and was reasonable. Overall a very positive experience. Price was not crazy expensive and not cheap.
  15. I have a burn bag that I use to store any Lion batteries (such as the one for my mooneymover). Not too worried about an iPad fire but the cheap Chinese Lion batteries are a worry.
  16. Scott bought Chandler Aviation from Frank.
  17. There’s no one in Las Vegas that really knows Mooneys. Last year a local shop did my annual and missed some items.
  18. Also Don Maxwell and Houston Tax Specialists.
  19. @Pembroke Advisoron this forum is also a wealth of knowledge.
  20. Just dropped my Ovation for its annual. Flew to Phoenix from Las Vegas so I could get it done at a MSC.
  21. I second that. Bart is a good friend and an excellent attorney.
  22. I am unable to log on to MS using either my home broadband (Centurylink) or Cellular data (Verizon). I’m logging on here via Starlink (which I use only in the plane…)
  23. Wanker.
  24. Wow. A real "people" person. Charming.
  25. Interesting discussion. Which parts on my Ovation would likely become Unobtanium and ground the aircraft? Which parts couldn't be repaired? Obviously, I'm thinking of parts such as cowls etc but wondering where the greatest exposure is on a more modern Mooney? I had to buy salvage wing sight fuel gauges from Germany to replace mine (at a ridiculous cost) but that wouldn't AOG the plane if I couldn't find one right away.
