  1. Good video but you said there’s no fuel at Gwinnett? Is that no fuel, or no reasonably priced fuel?
  2. It’s easy. You can cut and paste items on the let side to speed things up and not have to type each one. I can give you mine for seed material if you’d like.
  3. The guy is an idiot and is at total fault for what happened. The tie down ring failed as a result of the accident. It didn’t cause it. I submit two screen captures of his video. His tail tie down is not bolted together. The only thing holding down the tail is the winch cable. The winch started to back off and his sections of strut simply slipped apart until the ends met. Look at the red knob on the spool of the winch, see how it has moved. This belongs in the Hangar Fails Compilation of 2023.
  4. Regarding the checklist on the GTN, when you get to the bottom of the current page, is there a way to auto scroll, or do you need to manually change pages to get to the next items?
  5. I can send you what I built for the G3X. Since I’ve got the GTN750 and GFC500, I’ve built in stuff for those to have quick reference while I get used to them. Send me your email in a PM and I’ll send you my chklist.ace file. The file has been placed in the Avionics section of Downloads https://mooneyspace.com/files/file/209-garmin-checklist-file-chklistace/
  6. Agreed! My first round of checklists came from CheckMate without thinking it through and I loaded one that had “Master Switch - ON” which was useless. I’ve since built pre-preflight checklist into GP that I plan to use more with passengers during a preflight walk around to allow them to help and generate interest. Once the Master comes on, I use the G3X.
  7. When I rebuilt my motorcycle, I thought paying $180 for the Deutsch crimp was pricey. I don’t understand how they can sell a set of dies for $300-$400 dollars, but you’re stuck without them.
  8. I once dated a girl that lied and cheated on me.
  9. Not according to TE. The only thing it crimps are the solid barrel Multimate Type II connectors used in the AMP plugs and receptacles so common in our Mooneys. Other more common connectors will fit the Series 1 housings, but Mooney uses the expensive gold plated ones that sell for $4 or $5 each.
  10. That would be fantastic. Here’s a link to them on the TE site.
  11. The motorcycle forum I used to visit had a great tool loan “program” for those once in a blue moon tools like drivetrain alignment tools. Something like that would be very helpful to me right now. I need to crimp some of the TE solid barrel contacts and can’t get over the $800 price for the TE 58541-1 crimper. Does anyone have a pair they’d be willing to rent? I’ll pay postage both ways and would be willing to make a donation to your gas fund. TIA
  12. If you’re planning on attending, or thinking you can, please RSVP to coleaviation@yahoo.com so they’ll have enough food for everyone.
  13. That really looks great!
  14. I don’t understand what you’re saying. Parts are plentiful and cheap. Just look at how easy it is to fix a charging system problem that uses a 35 yo VR802 regulator. Things couldn’t be any simpler, quicker and cheaper.
  15. No way you could get away with making that movie today, or Blazing Saddles, or … I can’t think of any comedies made in the last x years that will still be around in 43 years and be as funny in 2066 as they are today. Today it’s all quantity over quality to satisfy the demands of streaming.
  16. Here’s one more point to consider on the topic of buying with training in mind. Once you buy your own plane to train in, any disruption to the flyability, my new word, means you’re not training. This is where I am now. I last flew for instrument training on March 6. I suspended training because I had a contract on a plane and it made no sense to be paying someone else to fly their plane when in a few short weeks I’d have my own to train in. I brought it home on March 20th and on the first flight since getting it home, the charging system took a dump and it hasn’t flown since. Im hoping to shortly get is straightened out, but with access to only one plane, I’ve given up my options. Just something to think about if you’re on a schedule to finish up your training.
  17. Just checked registration and it looks like it bounced around Stuart and Fort Pierce a good bit before moving to AL. I’m not certain, but I think this is the one Scott MacDonald had listed for quite awhile in Stuart, before it got the new paint. I remember looking at it back in ‘21 and decided to move on for better planes.
  18. It sounds like a moot point it’s been requested many times before and never done. It does require a level of work to manage.
  19. Wrap the heel with some UHMW and we’re off to the races.
  20. I think you’ve landed on the new and approved manner to answer questions on MS.
  21. Almost all of the forums I’ve belonged to have made great use out of stickies and they were really helpful, especially to new members that join the site and start off with pretty much the same questions. I’ll stay away from using absolutes, but we’re pretty close to that territory. I think it would be a great tool for the site as a whole to make more use of Featured Threads for all of the usual reasons and benefits. Has this topic been broached with the MS admins before?
  22. That’s better. I grew up in Stuart and it’s pretty salty.
