So, I have a weird thing going on. When I turn my strobes on, I intermittently get static on my Comms, regardless of squelch settings. Has anyone experienced this? Jumping ahead, I’m going to replace all my strobes for LED ones. Recommendations? Also, I think the current strobes have a power supply somewhere that’s apart of my current system. I’m not completely sure though. Can someone lead me in the right direction as to where i can find the power supply box or boxes? Do I need to remove the PS for the new LED strobes?

Any chance you’ve looked at the uAvionix AV-30’s? They offer a whole lot with very little $$. The install is a tenth of the time of a G5 and they are setup to talk to just about anything. AP certification is in the near future. Also the traffic page with the AV-Link soon to come. I know a few people that recently installed them and rave about them. If you go the Dynon route you might be able to use one AV-30 for the secondary backup that’s required and the other for a stand alone traffic display. I’m sure there will be some opinions on this—

Hey everyone, I was just poking around and remember how close the OK Corral is to KOBE. I’ve been there a few times before I was a pilot and it was a blast, literally. OK Corral is only about 15 minutes from KOBE, they offer Sporting clays, Skeet Shooting, Trap, and they also have a standard range for sighting in your rifle. The restaurant is truly some good country cooking. They have golf carts and reasonable prices. I’m looking to head up there on the 29th or 30th on this month. Weather dependent of course. Who’s up for it? PS - If you don’t own a shotgun they have rentals.

I think the lipo myth has been debunked. Check out the High Sierra Fly in or just about any bush plane out there has one strapped to their wing now. I pretty sure the early lipo battery problems were more do to high temperatures. I might be wrong.

YO!! I have the GT on order but doesn’t ship until Jan 27th. Can’t wait!! My boys got the Pint X for X-Mas and that thing is fun. It has me thinking I maybe should have got and PX vs the GT. I think its just the wait that killing.

Oops… I broke all the rules!! 1. Fell in love with a plane. “Mooney M20J” 2. Bought her sight on seeing, over the phone. 3. Didn’t have my PPL at the time of purchase. 4. Never even flown in one before putting my deposit down. “Actually the only Mooney I’ve ever been in is mine, still today.” 5. I didn’t cut my teeth in a Cessna “Won’t catch me dead in one” and went straight to the Ferrari. Things I did and I think am doing right- 1. Set a goal and accomplished it. 2. Signed up for Mooney Space 3. Did my transition training and continue to seek more knowledge from experienced Mooney pilots after breaking the above rules. 4. Know your limitations. 5. Fly, Fly, Fly and then Fly more. 6. Don’t look back, look to the future. My newbie pilot opinion- Buying a plane is like wondering when will you be ready to have your first kid. You start asking yourself the questions. Do I have enough money, the right home, is it the right time in your relationship, and the list goes on and on. Then once you have one, you start think of have another one or two. The simple answer is… Good Luck and take the advice from the veteran MS in the above posts. Not so much me.

Has anyone experienced the baggage door popping open even if it has been latched down? I was told always latch and lock the baggage door as one of my checks. Just curios if someone had one come open even when latched or are we talking about leaving it unlatched on accident? I don’t see my coming unlatched do to the solid feel it has when closed.

The weather was amazing. Though I was a little late, part due to the 15 plus planes waiting to depart KHWO this morning. Only one controller on.
