  1. Thanks for the info... How about the mechanical fuel pump? Any potential signs of diminishing reliability?
  2. Can anyone tell me if its feasible to clean the foggy glass on there gauges? Is it serviceable?
  3. What's the rule on the electric fuel boost pump?
  4. I can’t imagine it can get much easier than ForeFlight logbook with the auto tracking and everything.
  5. Sad day at KHWO after a tornado…
  6. I like the idea of print and replacing a copy of the digital Logbook as a backup. Along with the iCloud storage.
  7. Nice... So, I'll just write my flights on my fuselage with a sharpy until I get my plane painted or just posted them on MS so everyone can be a witness. LOL!!! Just joking...
  8. Can the Foreflight logbook act as a replacement to the standard paper pilot logbook? Just checking to see if anyone has completely done away with there old paper logbook and gone fully digital? I started using the Foreflight logbook a third into my PPL and it became one of my favorite tools. The way it keeps track of your currency and shows where you stand regarding upgrading your license, is awesome. Along with the ability for a CFI to sign off digital is pretty cool as well. As of right now I have been using Foreflight LB recording all my flights, then back logging my paper logbook to match. I'm just wondering if I'm wasting my time and energy with this paper LB? Thoughts???
  9. He's got one with the hump...
  10. Cole Aviation in North Georgia might be a little far but that’s were my Mooney was service for years and I had a great experience with them before moving it down to south Florida.
  11. Thanks
  12. Does anyone have a decent side view sketch, drawing, profile of a J or newer model that I can use to sketch out paint schemes?? The ones I find on Google are small or pixelated.
  13. Florida Mooney owners, As you might already know we are in the full swing of hurricane season, which I would like to add is getting later and later every year. We have a potential threat lurking below us... Friendly reminder to make sure your bird is save and secure. If for some reason it has to remain outdoors on the tarmac, make sure you check on the other planes that might become an issue. Feel free to reach out if anyone needs and help this weekend.
  14. Iridium yes, but only for sat phone purposes. Don't quote me on this but 100% of all VSAT service companies are owned and operated out of Palma in the Med. There are all shi* and have been gouging the marine industry for decades now. 6mbs down for $3800 -$4500 a month is ridiculous. Starlink i get 150mbs down for $125 a month. Just a little FYI, have been using the RV model not the marine model. $500 for equipment $125 a month vs. $10000 for equipment $5000 a month.
  15. My 77 J POH has a service ceiling of just over 23K at 2300lbs and just under 19K at 2740lbs. In my opinion once you get above 12K there are a lot more variables to contend with to make a accurate Cruise Table for a generalized purpose. Even at low flight levels I see to much of a difference from what my POH C & R is saying. So, I just created my own and its dynamically changing as I gain more experience in my Mooney, along with adding modern upgrades "JPI" to the plane. I fly in Florida and what I have found is 8.5K is my sweet spot. Mainly because I like the free AC up there and I can usually catch a nice tail wind when i'm heading NNW. I'm curious to know if others have a sweet spot or preferred alt they shoot for?
  16. Definitely not static, I'm a yacht captain that just recently cruised the Med, crossed the Atlantic and now sitting in South Florida all while running Starlink. I bought two one for the med and one for the US. Both look identical but the US version has a FCC license to operate. It has been a absolute game charger. VSAT companies will fail if the performance continues.
  17. Its coming in time, the tech is already in production. What cool about it, is that it will most likely be skin paneling like a flexible solar panel.
  18. I'm just trying to figure out how to mount my Starlink on my Mooney. Starlink is a game changer!!!
  19. Good article, food for thought... Opinions? egt_myths.pdf
  20. Defiantly check the connections. This happened to me just after installation and it was a loose connection. Zip Tie, Zip Tie, Zip Tie I'm a big fan of Grip Lock Zip Ties, check them out.
  21. So, 5/32” diameter one of these should do the trick.
  22. Not sure what the official name it is but I'm looking for a set of seat track pins that keep the seats from coming out. Does anyone know the size and length I need? I don't trust cotter pins...
  23. Nice and Nice!!!
  24. So… A MSC can source a pair? Maybe?
