I talked to Craig today... you are correct sir! Thank you for your help!

remove air con to gain extra useful load on Ovation?
V1VRV2 replied to FJC's topic in Modern Mooney Discussion
I was told by a friend that the Ovation flies surprisingly well overweight. I told him to never to do that! -
Mooney is making them. Takes about 4-6 weeks.

I don’t think so.... it’s a Mooney paint design. 2019. I spoke the Jonathan and he didn’t mention it was his design.

Removing urethane efc100 fueltank coating
V1VRV2 replied to Hradec's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
What Raymond said! Best sounding post yet! -
After serial # 29-0180 your in the clear which explains why my plane isn’t affected.

This is a murky area for me. I looked at an O a few moths ago to purchase that was placarded “Only for Use in Cruise Flight”. The O I purchased has the factory installed system with the only limitation being not for use on takeoff. I never saw it written on paper as to the reason but was told that the limitation could/should be removed from early O’s. C02 was the reason. The limitation is not found on my 2002 O. Maybe someone has an answer. I vaguely recall an A/D for the A/C. Might want to look it up.

Which mandates? Not to be used for takeoff?

There are 2 different part #’s for the 3” pedal extensions... 720115-9503 3” extension w pedal 720115-503 3” extension without pedal I imagine the pedal included with the 3” extension is the re-configured pedal to restore the original pedal angle?

Not in an O with A/C and FIKI!

Just flight planned this flight PBG-ISM and it’s going to take 85 gallons @ 75% best economy. But look at the huge headwind. 37 KTS. Today this trip will require a fuel stop but the majority of days it wont. Certainly not on the way home.

Hello.... just thought I’d throw my .02 in. I was looking for the same plane. An Ovation with FIKI but not necessarily A/C. I found a plane that had both but A/C + FIKI isn’t common due to the hit on useful load. My plane has an 817# useful load. The situation in the market presently is that there are almost no Ovations for sale. Ovations with FIKI are non existent right now that fit your description. If you want FIKI your going to have to grab whatever comes to market and negotiate a fair price. Supply and demand are not in your favor. Pricing.... I was looking at the market for the past 6mo. Your not going to find a good plane for less than $230-240,000. If you do it’s priced below market and for a reason. I paid $260,000 for my plane with 2395TT, new engine from Continental with 285 hrs, original panel with ADSB and Connext Flightstream and new interior. I still had a list of items to take care of after my PPI. Nothing serious but the bill added up to $20,000 to get it “almost” perfect.... still have some work to go during the next annual and I should be caught up. TKS pumps both needed to be replaced. That’s $8,600 dollars for 2 new pumps no labor!!! I was lucky and found someone on eBay selling new pumps for $1,250 ea! What I’m saying is there will be a pricey list of things to get done after you make the purchase. Cheap initial purchase price means big payment fixing it up. I’ve also been debating the 310HP STC and you have to ask yourself how you want to fly the plane. SOP by the book is to set climb power at 500’ AGL to 24” 2500 RPM for the climb. So from the start of the takeoff roll to 500’ is all your going to get. If your on the east coast on high density altitude days and short runways it will benefit you. If you live in high terrain out west it’s a benefit. Everywhere else... not so much. Now keeping everything full forward until FL180 there’s a benefit on performance but will come at a price when the engine needs new cylinders in 1000hrs. It does nothing for speed in cruise since your at 2550 RPM or below. You only see the additional power above 2500 RPM. The paperwork and a new tach if required, modifying the governor, and modifying fuel pressure will coast you $8,000. For me it doesn’t make sense. Just had this conversation with my mechanic yesterday. This is my experience looking for a FIKI Ovation.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. As always the members here NEVER disappoint! There are a few larger areas of paint delaminating from the surface which will trap moisture and cause corrosion. The planes 18 years old and always was hangared. Still looks good but 18 years is long enough. Is painting the gear something that should be done as well?

My plane is 18 years old and could use a new paint job. I really like the 2019 Ovation factory scheme. I was told that Mooney contracts out the paint? I’d like to inquire who painted this Ovation? Should I go to the shop that painted the factory plane or would any shop be able to replicate? Would someone know where to inquire about the color codes? Maybe the owner is on the board? Thanks in Advance!

I agree... battery minder. They have a plug that you can install that connects directly to the charger/minder. Desulfates and charges. https://www.batteryminders.com/batteryminder-model-244cec1-aa-s5-24v-4-amp-concorde-aviation-battery-charger-maintainer-desulfator/

I was wondering if I installed 2 portrait 7” TXi screens in my Ovation would I need a stby instrument like the GI275? Is it an option to add AHRS to the MFD so it could display as a PFD should the PFD fail? I’m asking because of this Beech pic attached. It would seem so.

Definitely an Ovation with a previously installed TKS system. If you want a plane you can dispatch 95% of the time With no geographic limits TKS is a must. Last 2 flights I made I encountered ice. One of the icing locations was down south in LA. Icing occurs everywhere... FL not so much. Be aware... TKS is an expensive system to maintain. Fluid is $13 a gallon best case scenario. You will need to run it year round to keep it primed and operating properly. I need to replace 2 pumps this week. Price options for each pump are... New... $4,313 Exchange (for rebuilt pump with core exchange)... $3,800 Rebuild (2-3 weeks)... $2,600 Amazing system with amazing capability but... Expensive to maintain. Expensive to use. Cruise speed... 3-5kt loss at cruise. Lose approx 100# useful load with the system filled and installed. I have A/C and TKS... useful load is 817 lbs. Such an amazing plane with TKS.

Carbon fiber... real or a vinyl wrap. 3M Di NOC will pass for real prepreg CF. Matte finish so no reflections comes in colors too.

Getting on the ground to sump the tanks on a summer day sucks with a bad back. On a winter day when the ground is covered in ice and it’s snowing or raining it’s an absolute MFer! No graceful way to do it. Nice clothes? Not an option! I’m new to Mooney. Maybe I’m missing something?

Thanks for your input. Just ordered a bunch of Tempest filters.

CH48108-1 Champion? Any other recommendations for brand of filter?

Flying in fire breathing dragon mode will contribute to it. Everything full forward. 10/10. Pulling the power back only in the flare. The engine sitting for a long period of time without use will do it as well. There’s a sweet spot somewhere in the middle.
