  1. @EarthX Inc, no C models? (Battery in the engine bay)… Thanks! -Don
  2. Gear down 2 dots before intercept (as soon as I’m in gear speed - 120 mph), flaps to takeoff setting 1 dot before intercept (once at flap speed - 100 mph), stabilize, then do BGUMPS at FAF/intercept: boost pump gas undercarriage mixture/carb heat (as needed)/manifold pressure/throttle prop/flaps and then ‘Ss’ (seatbelts/switches/breakers) throttle to get ~450-500 FPM and trim/trim/trim for approach speed ;o) old Mooney with much lower speeds… -Don

  5. The outdoor musical was a must visit -- they only have fireworks on the 1st, last, and during 4th of July week -- was absolutely worth it -- even in the light rain:
  6. Some of the colors are something though in the canyon:
  7. The Canyon was a nice drive -- they said takes 45 minutes to and hour but if you stop -- way longer -- we did 2.5 hours - lots of places to pull off and take pictures:
  8. The flight into Palo Duro was nice, Wife got a couple of shots in. Canyon was awesome for sure. Very hazy day:
  9. The Big Texan Restaurant was outstanding -- food, service, atmosphere -- really great place and a must stop on I40 in Amarillo. Everything was delicious -- jalapeno coins were awesome in their ranch dressing:
  10. This is nice - guy with one post and gmail — totally legitimate— not… reported… -Don
  11. Donated again! Thanks for the work on the site... @mooniac58 -Don
  12. Last weekend flew to the Texas Panhandle and landed at River Falls (H81). Nice little airport, great service and fuel prices from the FBO. Rented a car from KAMA and the FBO was kind enough to give us a ride to get it. Took in the Palo Duro Canyon and last Texas Musical of the year (with fireworks!). Airport can be a bit hard to spot and the weather from the Tradewind airport is not quite accurate so watch the wind sock. No approaches either. Hit ‘The Big Texan’ steakhouse - great steakhouse. We stayed in Canyon Texas as that put us on the main road to Palo Duro. Nice drive and the Texas Outdoor musical show was fantastic. Must do that again. pics coming once my donation gets through…. -Don
  13. I used Lubbock Aero when I was up there a couple of months ago, call for prices though. I had great service while I was there. -Don

  16. One point I would make is if we stopped sending money to other countries to build ‘their’ infrastructure, we might be able to discuss upgrades here, then ‘help’ others. Yep addicted to ‘USA federal’ crack - all states and other countries have it… -Don
  17. This is what I do - join NAFI, it has other benefits too - I got some of the King Courses at a great discount.., good overall org… -Don

  19. I’m getting older and my night vision is better with some light. I’m not in my 30’s when I flew plenty of night ops… just a part of getting older and recognizing my limits… -Don
  20. Planned on night flying yesterday, found the left nav light weak. Took it apart (led) and noticed it must have vibrated loose. Reset it, confirmed a tight fit, got her out and ready. After startup and turning on the lights again, found the landing light was off. Checked everything before start too. Tried the switch, no good. Shut down, and checked again - was on. Tapped around and the light flickered and then went off - grounded as I won’t fly at night with no landing light. Took off the cheek and found the butt splice for the landing light was no longer holding the wire - similar to the alternator issue I had. Ordered the proper 10-12 gauge splice and fixed it today. I now keep a supply of those splices just in case. Funny how even with constant inspections, this still occurs. Never a dull moment in aircraft ownership… -Don
  21. Oh, he did… He Said, ‘Checking the butt? NOPE’… then I gave him the report… BTW, I GoTo my Cardiologist as he makes sure the ticker is good… he does a lot of FAA SI tests… -Don
  22. To ram more crap up it… -Don
