Logbook Pro to Foreflight or Garmin Pilot?
hammdo replied to Parker_Woodruff's topic in Miscellaneous Aviation Talk
I did to ForeFlight from a spreadsheet. Created a spreadsheet using one of ForeFlight templates. Took a while but imported nicely. Keeping up with the logs are easy now. Import from logbook pro export is supported in ForeFlight I believe. My import was through ForeFlight’s web interface. I’ve not used Garmin. -Don -
Here is a flight I filed to practice approaches. I added the IAF (to avoid a STAR from the FAA computer) and put the note in the remarks - TRNG MULT APCH. Did multiple RNAV18 approaches. Regional Approach was very accommodating…

ForeFlight -- I took a screen shot of the 'Flight' from my track log/Log Book and the Screen Shot from 'Flights'. I just trimmed it up a bit... -Don

Flight Planning My Mooney’s Route Home
hammdo replied to Chuck Balogna's topic in General Mooney Talk
Next time try Montanas for a meal - awesome - Roosters is a great ‘simple fare’ place too. -Don -
While @DonMuncy is quite correct this is what I did yesterday - filed a full route with remarks letting ATC know what I was doing (TRNG MULT APCH KACT). My clearance limit was JPOOL6.ACT DIRECT KACT. Once I had Waco approach, I negotiated with them 3 approaches all with a miss then back to Mesquite (KHQZ). Waco was awesome and worked with me so I could do the approach’s (500/3 - first time that low for me!) After I was done Waco gave me my new clearance CQY YEAGR4 arrival. Now that was a great workout! The track is wobbly due to deviations for traffic et.al but, when we get IFR here it’s time to get some work. Mesquite gave me my 4th IFR approach of the day. Very busy but worth the training. I treated it as 3 tries to my destination and then a diversion to my alternate. Lots of button pushing - All with no autopilot… fun! I don’t shy away from SIDs or STARs- great practice! IFR around DFW, the computer spits the clearance out with them. -Don

Decided today to replace the cylinder drain hoses -- you'll see they were leaking -- I've tighten them but it was pretty clear that was not going to do it any more -- fairly simple -- took my time and did both sides -- some pics to show the steps. Cleaned things up and did a 1 hour maintenance flight -- dry as a bone after the flight. I did put some chafing tape on the tube where possible rubbing may occur. 8 clamps, 4 hoses -- now all new again after 17 years...

SureFly on the pilots side, overhauled mag on copilots side - 3 years and really like it. I had an alternator failure during ifr flight, declared and landed with no issue. Having a SureFly does require an operable electric system - so I didn’t dilly-dally. I kept one mag so I have something that didn’t require an operating electric system… SkyTec starter too… I’d still do the SureFly again… -Don

Alliance/Perot KAFW probably makes the most sense. Can take hwy 114 to hwy 26. Others would be KGPM (Grand Prairie) or KGKY (Arlington). KAFW has a nice FBO and Mooney Safety Foundation does their 3 day course here… That is if you want to avoid flying into DFW ;o) -Don

May be better to get the electric upgrade: http://flightenhancements.com/auto-step.html http://flightenhancements.com/ordercontact.html option is to get the crank retrofit… just a thought… yes, I have it on my ‘66… -Don

Damn Alan, that is one heck of a job… -Don

Nice! I was also lucky yesterday as East Texas had similar weather. IFR with approach — gotta practice! -Don

Just wanted to bump this: I have David's old Mooney with the Gen 1 Cowling. Wanted to show what she does with that version. I had a True air speed of 177 MPH (shows 180 but I was moving around the cabin getting the camera). 9 GPH, 6000 ft, WOT 2400 RPM. Flight to KGGG IFR (East Texas Regional). This thing really does 154 KTS True as David said! -Don

I had to do it on my private test… -Don

They also don’t have their PMA yet, so I’m sure it will be a delay… -Don
