  1. What a shame and I’d bet a ton of corrosion… -Don
  2. Hum, question changed… Maxwells did mine when I had the selector overhauled… -Don
  3. I run boost pump, mixture control about half way (some may need full mixture), 2 pumps of the throttle, fires right up then I lean aggressively. Now, I’m in Texas and even in the 20’s (degrees) this has worked for me. The previous owner lived in Wisconsin ( @Sabremech) so he may have some thoughts. I also have a SureFly and recent overhauled right mag with all new leads so that may also help me… C’s are carbureted… -Don
  4. Here they are installed and AD completed, by Maxwells:
  5. My daughter loves the farting mode Tesla has— sense of humor for sure… -Don
  6. https://www.10tv.com/article/news/nation-world/tesla-recalls-nearly-all-vehicles-sold-in-us/507-2ee137ad-2cd5-4f56-84b5-788db785e2b8
  7. Sheep covers— I got them last year covercraft I believe… I’ll check — they are great… Edit: Yep… Covercraft AeroSheep seat covers for C model -Don
  8. Everyone will ask what your mission is — just a heads up ;o) E is probably the best of the short bodies - C’s are a great workhorse. I own a C with speed mods so my numbers are different. Leaned out @ 9000 feet she goes about 8.5 GPH. My true airspeed is ~148-150 knots. My mission is max 2 people 99% of the time with baggage. C’s are reasonable with repairs depending on how well they’ve been cared for. If you need room, F’s or Js. It will boil down to your intended mission, how much you want the plane to already have (avionics, engine/prop time, interior). I like mine ;o) the speed numbers you show are overly optimistic - the 60’s marketing was overblown for sure… -Don
  9. Blackstone report is in! She’s humming along and looks happy… Notice the Lead? Since I installed the Fuel Flow in January of 2023, I've been able to really be aggressive with Leaning -- and its showing! -Don
  10. Vintage Leather Yokes are done! AD is completed and the new yokes fit right in! Next will do the panels.
  11. Running is not the same as flying it. Running does not get the oil temps high enough to burn off condensation. Keep that in mind… -Don
  12. Here's my plan for the next one -- once the ABS and black pipping come in, I'll create one that looks like this - like the trim idea:
  13. Here is the panel in the plane -- I like the looks but the 'fit' needs to be better -- so, I'm going to re-do with ABS plastic as I can sand the edges better and get a more 'contoured' fit. Still, color and the Mooney logo looks nice. For the co-pilot, I'll need to 'split' the panels since they're in sections and I'll do the same -- ABS plastic, formed fitted.
  14. Did the pilot's side leather panel today -- pretty easy -- use leather contact cement, a compass to measure out the working area, set the contact cement and waited for it to be tacky, then rolled the leather onto the panel -- slowly. When rolling the edges, I made little triangles, rolled the edges, trimmed then hammered lightly to flatten. The contact cement ONLY needs to be in the rolling areas (marked out) and not the whole leather piece. Doesn't take long and the leather color matches great with the new Yokes:
  15. Such a shame to see these sitting… -Don
  16. Emblems came in! Attached to yoke -- like the looks! Yokes are ready for Maxwells now! I have small and medium of the multi-color. Now I'll do some leather panels for the pilot/co-pilot side and add emblems to those! -Don
  17. I’d do aluminum now since that will hold up.
  18. Use that as a template and make your own? Aviation aisle/section at Lowe’s may have the clear plastic…
  19. @Hradec did — has a thread on here showing him doing the work - he is an A&P…
  20. My daughter and her husband both own Teslas. They don’t do a whole lot of long distance travel (unlike my wife and I). For them it made sense and they figured they could rent a gas powered vehicle if needed. Not for me but if my driving was local, I can see the benefits. Lots of chargers here in DFW so it works for them - if they need a supercharger vs home charger. Traveling long distances- not ready for prime time… -Don
  21. Glad to hear the corrosion fix is done! The one on my Mooney was installed years ago and looks like it was ~$1500 at the time of the gear up fix (2006). Not sure who has them now besides LASAR. Maybe @Alan Fox might? -Don
  22. Left - has a flat tire on the front… -Don
  23. PTT ready to go. I'll have that hooked up during annual (after Maxwell's does the swap). Pretty easy to do after I figured out how to route the wires through the PC tubes. After I got everything done, I was able to push the PTT switch into the cavity where the PC switch was. I used a vacuum cap and cut it, put it in the opening, and after the switch was soldered and shrink tubed, was able to push it in after confirming the fit. Fit is real nice and the PTT switch is in very solidly set -- can be removed too if need be. -Don
  24. lol. I wasn’t too concerned. I told them I like the original mock up anyway… -Don
  25. Not on purpose, just how it was stitched… -Don
