  1. I believe Grant is going to put the engine monitor where the EGT is in the future… -Don
  2. Finally! That looks great! I need a ride now… -Don
  3. Shop called, gonna go next week! Cables in, have everything ready to go… gonna take her out tomorrow and Monday get some time in before annual. Getting some items done since it’s been a while… -Don
  4. More than salvage price but may be a good one to fix up - if an A&P. Shame it was wasting away after obviously well loved in the past… -Don
  5. AP is doing the throttle/prop cables at annual so, PTT, throttle, and prop cables will be done. I’ve kept up with maintenance all year so hoping things still look good. I also ordered new intake rubber tubes, gaskets, and bolts/washer/nuts too. I have the prop heim kit also coming for the prop cable. Should put things in a good way. Later I’ll do the cowl flaps, carb heat, cabin heat, and brake cables. Just so I know the condition of the cables will be good… Annual is next month so I’ll want to get some flying in before then… -Don
  6. I’m the same way - I prefer actual with no hood/foggles - very different perspective… -Don
  7. I was referring to the 2.7 engine that was a DeLorean spec’d version. I think there were ~35 of those - Maybe they were only in Europe. I believe they were ~155 HP versions of the Volvo engine where as the ‘typical’ version were detuned - 130 HP version. Been almost 40 years ago for me since I worked on them - do remember some of the ‘quality’ Issues at the time though.. Still, a fun car to drive… -Don
  8. Pics of what you have help. Interior- you can do some of the interior yourself if you’re so inclined. Total time engine/prop, tank sealed, etc can give a better idea of where you stand. Depends on price asking - if doing any interior work will be returned in sale price. Just a note - I used to work on DeLoreans back in the day - does yours have the Volvo or original engine? -Don
  9. Merry Christmas everyone… -Don
  10. Noticed the throttle and prop cables started 'feeling' different recently so, I went ahead, bit the bullet, and ordered from McFarlane using the part numbers from my Mooney Parts Catalog (IPC). I'll see if I get these before annual and ask the AP if they can install them - I also ordered the tools -- just to have them in case I need them. After having the mixture cable break, in 2022, I don't want to wait until these have issues. MC660189-005 (Prop) 660189-5 was IPC # MCVA660190-003 (Throttle) 660190–3 was IPC # -Don
  11. Short flight too if necessary ;o) -Don
  12. Wow, that sucks Grant. Recent thread with options: Rudys may be your best option for OH (just NE of Ft. Smith): @gwav8or -Don
  13. There was a thread on here where some shop used a non removable tank sealant. Hard as a brick. I don’t think the owner found a solution but you may want to try a site search on google. tank sealant removal site: mooneyspace.com
  14. 1) This might help: -Don
  15. Very interesting, but that would be a pain for those of us who would consider AeroCruze in our short body Mooneys if we needed a FSDO approval after buying the STC’d kit… -Don
  16. Heater for your cabin - I heat mine using the switcheon to manage it remotely over the phone - when it’s below 40°. Air compressor for tires. Folding tables… cleaning supplies, case of oil and filter — I change my own oil… -Don
  17. I had to book 3 months out and asked to be on the their list for any cancellation before that time. I received a call a week later and asked if I could take a last minute cancellation ( 2 days notice). I sure did take it… May be worth doing that while searching DPEs… -Don
  18. I think he’s retiring or already has… -Don
  19. That $100,000 or $110,000 is a complete conversion kit with just about everything needed to convert - not just the engine. Of course, there will probably be some items left to still do… -Don
  20. Vintage - agree. Probably Js and up - if at all. I imagine Pipers and Cessnas mostly for the first decade - at $100,000 to $110,000 per kit, not sure how many will get retrofitted… -Don
  21. Well, Grant ( @gwav8or and I went out today (Grant doing safety pilot duties while he's waiting on his F to get avionics done). FUN Day -- flew almost 2 hours and got 3 approaches in with 2 holds during his safety pilot time. So for the day had 3 holds and 3 approaches! Great to have someone help and I'll be happy to return the favor. The time literally 'flew' by and before we knew it, it was done. Looking forward to more opportunities and to use the ICARUS next time we go. Oooo -- leather was NICE BTW... Thanks Grant -- it was a blast! -Don
  22. Don’t forget SWTA @84R (Smithville). JD et.al. are great… another option besides Dugosh, Maxwells, and Factory. Many places to contact for help/suggestions… -Don
  23. Easier to just post here for everyone — too much on the eBay ad ;o)… -Don
