  1. That’s good, I just bought a new concord so I’m betting in the next 5 to 7 years the FAA will be ready.. ;o) -Don
  2. I’m happy to do it. I’m assuming remove the cover and change the wiring… If you do a video, I’ll just follow it… -Don
  3. Right now, owning with hanger, annual, updates/upgrades/fixes/maintenance, subscriptions, insurance, fuel I’m averaging 20k-22k for my C over the last 4 years. First 2 years higher as I added G5s, fixes for avionics, gnc 355. I do my own oil changes and things I’m allowed to fix. I do about 100 hrs a year, highest was 144 hours in a year. Some years higher, some lower, it depends on what you do. I try to stay on top of things through-out the year to avoid big annuals. -Don
  4. Yeah, I’ll probably need to do the switch change also. She’s working great though! -Don
  5. Ordered a 2 person Aerox System with Boomula from Scott - he gave me a discount code that pretty much covered the Boomula addition. Like the system, simple and on those longer flights, need some to keep me fresher when 8000-11000 feet. If I fly out west/Mountains, want to have that. I’ll put this in the baggage area but with me getting older, more ‘ox’ is not a bad idea ;o)… -Don
  6. @EarthX Inc, no C models? (Battery in the engine bay)… Thanks! -Don
  7. Gear down 2 dots before intercept (as soon as I’m in gear speed - 120 mph), flaps to takeoff setting 1 dot before intercept (once at flap speed - 100 mph), stabilize, then do BGUMPS at FAF/intercept: boost pump gas undercarriage mixture/carb heat (as needed)/manifold pressure/throttle prop/flaps and then ‘Ss’ (seatbelts/switches/breakers) throttle to get ~450-500 FPM and trim/trim/trim for approach speed ;o) old Mooney with much lower speeds… -Don

  9. Maybe see if Vans (aircraft) has a set — may be another option…
  10. The outdoor musical was a must visit -- they only have fireworks on the 1st, last, and during 4th of July week -- was absolutely worth it -- even in the light rain:
  11. Some of the colors are something though in the canyon:
  12. The Canyon was a nice drive -- they said takes 45 minutes to and hour but if you stop -- way longer -- we did 2.5 hours - lots of places to pull off and take pictures:
  13. The flight into Palo Duro was nice, Wife got a couple of shots in. Canyon was awesome for sure. Very hazy day:
  14. The Big Texan Restaurant was outstanding -- food, service, atmosphere -- really great place and a must stop on I40 in Amarillo. Everything was delicious -- jalapeno coins were awesome in their ranch dressing:
  15. This is nice - guy with one post and gmail — totally legitimate— not… reported… -Don
  16. Last weekend flew to the Texas Panhandle and landed at River Falls (H81). Nice little airport, great service and fuel prices from the FBO. Rented a car from KAMA and the FBO was kind enough to give us a ride to get it. Took in the Palo Duro Canyon and last Texas Musical of the year (with fireworks!). Airport can be a bit hard to spot and the weather from the Tradewind airport is not quite accurate so watch the wind sock. No approaches either. Hit ‘The Big Texan’ steakhouse - great steakhouse. We stayed in Canyon Texas as that put us on the main road to Palo Duro. Nice drive and the Texas Outdoor musical show was fantastic. Must do that again. pics coming once my donation gets through…. -Don
  17. I used Lubbock Aero when I was up there a couple of months ago, call for prices though. I had great service while I was there. -Don

  20. One point I would make is if we stopped sending money to other countries to build ‘their’ infrastructure, we might be able to discuss upgrades here, then ‘help’ others. Yep addicted to ‘USA federal’ crack - all states and other countries have it… -Don
  21. This is what I do - join NAFI, it has other benefits too - I got some of the King Courses at a great discount.., good overall org… -Don
  22. that ‘place’ usually is very dark… -Don
  23. I’m getting older and my night vision is better with some light. I’m not in my 30’s when I flew plenty of night ops… just a part of getting older and recognizing my limits… -Don
