  9. So I want to fly here in my C. Just curious as to who has done it fairly recently? The internet says poor to fair runway conditions. Would like to know what to expect. I'll be flying from SLC, hopefully doing the flight in October or November. Thanks!
  10. I think the reg says test flight before carrying passengers after a major modification. We put a STOL kit on a 182. This is the caliber of work that requires the flight at the absolute minimum. The rest is up to you. The flight should also be logged in the maintenance log book.
  11. Don't know. I would assume it rotates like an exhaust valve does. I don't have that mechanical knowledge.
  12. Didn't fail, but had one on the shelf. Starter wasn't working. Ended up being a loose connection on the back of the circuit breaker...... Lesson learned.
  13. In case anyone is interested, this is what a 54 year old relay with 3900 hours looks like on the inside.
  14. Just got the JPI 730. Have the 8 hole panel to replace the original, then installing the JPI. Put 215 hours on the plane in the last 3 years since I've owned her. No issues so far, but I've replaced a lot of parts.
  15. Some digital ATIS still say AIRMEN. Most now say AIRMISSIONS............ The new world we live in............
  16. Mike Busch says 420 max CHT for lycomings. I'm in SLC, so WOT everywhere I go. I reduce to 2500RPM for climb out of 400' and cruise at 2400RPM. I'm also in no hurry to get anywhere. 142 kts pretty much all the time, no speed mods.
  17. I don't believe light sport exists for a helicopter, just PVT or better.
  18. I flew to Houston from SLC last year. No complaints!
  19. I've never seen that placard, Mooney, jet, or otherwise.
  20. I did my Sport, Sport CFI then add on PVT in the gyro. Good news is that I don't need the cross country for the PVT Helicopter add on!
  21. If you believe in MSC,s, Chandler Aviation.
  22. When I replaced my engine mounts, got to the magic 9" clearance. Before was 7.
  23. I sent mine to Waltham in Alabama. They did an overhaul. No complaints.
  24. I needed a new transponder to replace my Narco POS. Installed a Garmin 335 for ADSB out, paired with a stratus 3 to my ifly for ADSB in. Very happy.
