  1. Make an Offer - I’m happy to see them get a good home -
  2. Still stuff left make offer! --> Direct message me if interested. Thanks! - Bob
  3. I agree - it has been a great addition to the plane. Landings become much more consistent and night landings especially so. Helps at new fields and particularly those with a significant slant or confusing sight picture (think Sedona).
  4. The PPP is an incredible program. Period. I try to do it every year. There is always something to learn, no matter how seasoned and current you are. The instructors have been fantastic, and what's not to love about talking flying and Mooney for a weekend! > flying with an instructor who has significant Mooney experience is priceless Amen to that.
  5. Nope, you're not. 6'0", 61, 167. The difference in UL I make up in fuel. I read yesterday that the average waist size for men in the US is 40"
  6. Sunrise over Lake Erie
  7. If you find where this can be ordered, would you please post it - I would love to add this - thanks and Happy New Year!
  8. This is very interesting thread - but I don’t quite understand - is the extra capacity contingent on having some type of vent installed in the normal O filler neck, or is it simply an AFM change? Thanks. – Bob.
  9. Disney World did this in the 80's. Hey, I enjoyed the shooting gallery!
  10. It is that! For Oil and general gunk on airframes - I've never seen anything beat Powerfoam. I use it for oil, belly soot, TKS runs, etc. Never fails. Then follow it with Wash n' Wax Blue. Bingo. \
  11. I only use the window wipe version. Crazing the windscreen is something against which I will pay extra to be safe. I have also used these for general cleanup - they are a different material from the window version
  12. Hanging from the throttle and mixture knobs, on the floor if parked on the ramp.
  13. I faced the same choice in my O2 and as a contrarian I put this in: And I love it. Yes I have flown glass, and it’s great too, but I love the flexibility, capability, and redundancy of this design. I sure I would have been happy either way, but I love the way this design flies. (BTW - the AI fails over to the redundant AI, not the HSI.) An old friend once told me when playing golf that the first part of playing well is liking what you see when you look down at the club when you hit the ball. I guess the flying equivalent is the first part of enjoying the flight is liking what you see when you light up the panel. And I sure like what I see! Happy to discuss it with you if it helps -
  14. I am - I'm all-electric - had the Vac system pulled a while ago when I did a panel upgrade so I have a couple of free engine accessory drive pads B&C still doesn't have an STC for an M20, but I understand field approvals aren't hard to come by (famous last words). I don't think I would try to split the busses to try to create an emergency bus, though, I would just make it a failover. My steady-state draw in flight seems to be around 20A, which at worst with a 20A standby alternator would mean a very slowly draining battery.
  15. Greetings all – I was hoping to update this thread — Anyone know / wish to comment on the current status/availability of replacement 24V voltage regulators for the ovation? Are there currently any PMA replacements available or is repair (e.g. Consolidated) the only option at this point? MSCs/Mooney don’t seem to have any stock, and haven’t for a long time, what are people doing now in 2022… Thanks — Bob PS I’m looking for P/N 800397–501
  16. My vote: I have long held to this interpretation. In MAPA training recently, this was also presented as the correct interpretation. That being said, I wait to extend the first notch (T/O) until I am near or in the white arc, but I don't go into palpitations if I am a few knots above it.
  17. Just had this done on an Ovation2. A few observations: the CiES sender float rods are straight, and the OEM are bent. So when the CiES senders are inserted in the tanks they can get hung up on the protrusions in the tank if you are not careful, and in the case of the outboard senders, it's virtually impossible to install them without removing an additional inspection plate. I had both tanks done x2 senders each. The outboard senders require the removal of the landing light to access. Wing top access panels also had to be removed (and resealed) to position those senders correctly. Interior trim had to be removed, additional wiring added, etc - all in about 25-30 hours labor. Also, if you are interfacing freq versions with a JPI900, be sure to study the CiES installations wiring instructions carefully! Once it's done - they work great and are super accurate/stable.
  18. Garmin GI 106A VOR/LOC/GPS indicator with Glideslope - SOLD
  19. Ditto in MI. No changes noticed.
  20. Moritz EGT (Clamp style) Probe SOLD
  21. Point taken. I was actually attempting to be funny. I suppose I should keep my day job…
  22. Yes, fuel consumption!
  23. I saw this recently on one of my flight data downloads. Note the ~10deg oscillation in CHT. Now, if this was EGT I would suspect a valve, but it's CHT, and I would expect the time constant of the system to be longer than 3 min - which makes me think probe (since a cyl head has a larger heat capacity) . Any thoughts?
  24. Flying in FL in the summer...not much. Flying IFR in the Great Lakes in the winter with Icing Sigmets covering the top half of the country...priceless.
  25. I have a used Moritz cluster and the manifold pressure transducer that I just pulled out of my 2000 ovation. Both were working fine when they were removed. If you’re interested, just make me an offer – I’d love to see them put a good use. Might be a good stopgap for you. They are listed under the used avionics group – I posted them a while back. I also have the oil transducer which is why it’s in the picture as well. Cheers – Bob
