Gear cleaning and painting
Eight8Victor replied to Luxuryairtravel's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
During my first annual my mechanic removed all my main gear components so we could strip the three layers of paint from the wheel wells. My neighbor has a powder coating facility so I had everything glass beaded and powder coated. Powder coating is stronger than paint and has a slick surface that makes for easy cleaning and looks amazing. -
Anthony mentioned it before and here we have a story on how strong the GA market is...and in this strong economy with a rosey outlook our Mooney factory is all but dead. If the leadership at Mooney International can't make a go of it now, how will they ever get back on track? http://aopa.org/news-and-media/all-news/2020/february/19/piston-trainer-surge-lifted-market Parachute or not, autoland or manual land, doesn't matter, just an excuse.

These people are scammers and prey on the uninformed. Depending on the state in which you live, their methods might in fact be illegal. Here is a link to Florida law concerning Government imposter and deceptive advertisements. Check the law in your state and report these bottom feeders. http://www.leg.state.fl.us/Statutes/index.cfm?App_mode=Display_Statute&Search_String=&URL=0800-0899/0817/Sections/0817.417.html

I once flew over a big old nasty swamp full of snakes, ticks and other blood-sucking parasites, I was departing KDCA.

Nice! I'd appreciate an invite next time.

What Andy says is right on. Anyone that is active on here would absolutely get more than their money's worth just from the magazine. -
I Learned About Flying From That
Eight8Victor replied to alextstone's topic in Modern Mooney Discussion
@alextstone Thanks for sharing your experience. “I learned about flying from that” was the first place I would turn when my new issue of Flying arrived. I remember my heart racing and palms sweating reading through some of those stories and I always tried to imagine what I might have done in those situations. There is a lot of wisdom that can be gleaned from other pilots and their flying experiences. It would be profitable to our community if others would continue this thread with their experiences and lessos learned. -
@jkeeth I never updated my software after the GPS date rollover. Will L3 still pay my shop to do the update? Am I able to do it with a laptop?

Super cool! So I vote we now refer to Mike as "Speed Racer". I believe that Porsche today is worth about three new Acclaim Ultras. -

Ok Mike, there is a story here. Let's hear it. Was/is it yours? Did you race? The gearhead in me wants to know. That is super cool! -

Same reason that Justin Beiber is more popular than say, Alter Bridge. The powers that be tell the masses what they want then through fancy marketing, they create a following. I had to chuckle at your Mustang comment, I have been salivating over a beautiful new GT350 at my local Ford dealer. I do look forward to the coming advances in technology, but I really don't believe I will see an electric replacement for our Mooney’s in my lifetime and I expect to be around for at least another 3 decades. -

Custom paint job on new Acclaim
Eight8Victor replied to Eight8Victor's topic in Modern Mooney Discussion
I see this testimonial from Mike as an opportunity for Plane schemers to dominate the Mooney repaint market. Not only does it look great, it flys faster! It’s a paint job with a speed mod all in one. Seriously though, were these birds ordered and delivered in primer? Base white? -
Custom paint job on new Acclaim

But she is air conditioned... -
The latest Mooney paint schemes don't really do it for me so I was pleased to see this 2019 Acclaim with a custom paint job. The colors work very well and color matched seat inserts to boot.. They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder but this really stands out. https://www.controller.com/listings/aircraft/for-sale/165397203/2019-mooney-acclaim-ultra Since this one is for sale, I'm guessing the flaming will begin shortly.

Funny, naming your dog after a plane. I think I've heard of a guy around here naming his plane after a famous dog.
