  1. Touché. Is there any service info about the actuator itself? I'm digging but not finding anything.
  2. Sorry guys, I'm working off cryptic info myself. Really wish I was there to take a look in person. From what I understand is the rod end you see being installed in the picture Clarence re-posted had backed out of the actuator. Seems to me, since the rod end is sandwiched in the control horn, the actuator has to be turning. I'm not familiar with how that is built, but to me it seems like a linear actuator shouldn't be turning. My partner on the plane is supposed to go down today and facetime me (I'm the technical one) so I can get a look at it and make sure what I'm telling you is right.
  3. Hey guys. Curious if anyone has seen this before. My girl is in Annual this week. Unfortunately I'm not able to be there, but my partner on the plane called and said the mechanic found a loose Flap Control Rod during annual. He said that when they put the flaps down that it just "fell" out. Scary thought that I was one flap operation from something bad happening. Sorry I don't have much more info than this, but attached are the pictures I was sent. It seems odd to me that a rod end bearing could back out when it's held captive in a control horn. Has anyone seen anything like this before?
  4. Look just like the oil leak I had when my prop governor started leaking. Same place and everything. There s a "shelf" in there that sits under the governor. it's either part of the landing gear strut or a foot well for the rudder pedals. That's were it would collect on mine and not drip down until enough had collected. Made it appear to be an intermittent leak.
  5. When my ADI failed I went with the G5. The installation cost me $1700.00 and was no where near right. They spent hours searching for a static leak they created and I refused to pay for and other miscellaneous grievances during the install. I spent the next few years slowly correcting errors in the installation as I found them. This should have taken 1-2 days and they kept my plane for 2 weeks. G5 connected to hot side of breaker so it wasn't protected Pitot/Static system of the G5 (despite hours searching for a leak) was not calibrated Per the STC the G5 has to be on with the master switch. Ours was wired on the avionics bus. RS-232 was not properly configured on the G5 giving errors V Speeds were not configured on the G5 Just a word of caution. It should be between $1500 and $2000, but be wary of the low estimate. Our original estimate was for $800.

  7. Mine was done through Triad Aviation in NC last year. It was $29,375 for the overhaul. We also did a bunch of other stuff at the same time, cables, governor, lights, engine monitor, etc at the same time and all that labor in that block was around $9500 including the engine R&R. It took almost 6 months right at the beginning of the pandemic.
  8. This is how we did it. Since I was taking out a Loran, ADF, DME, and COM2 out of the second radio rack, we repurposed the ADF tray as a mounting tray for the EDC, Manifold Pressure Transducer, and G-meter. All the wires come through the firewall to this tray and then it's a small wire to the actual instruments on the left side of the panel. This is an "in process" picture from the install that shows what we did. In the final install, there is a blanking plate over the entire right side radio stack. All the parts for the engine monitor are gold in the picture.
  9. I put in the CGR-30 set and love it! What I liked most was how cleanly it fit into my panel because it fits into existing mounting holes. That was probably my #1 deciding factor. I found the cost delta between the CGR and others was negligible due to rebates, but they run the rebates a good bit. Their service was great helping us getting it up and running because we had a lot of trouble getting it working with the surefly ignition we also installed at the same time.

  11. I'm going to show my ignorance. What's the pro/con of the yaw servo? I know the PC has it now and it's used for Yaw Damper (I saw the other thread arguing between damper and dampener). How would the plane handle different? What would I feel/not feel with/without it?

  17. I think I found them. Pins 11, 12, 14, 103, 104. I see a bunch of others I would adjust before I tried to connect it again. Like 17, 31, 43, and 86 to name a few. What's your 4th?
  18. I just installed the EI CGR-30s too. Did you use the connectors they provided? They are very problematic for me. I am still chasing loose connections where those were used. I feel like I get something else start fluctuating every flight. Right now as I'm typing this my #2 CHT has stopped working. I am slowly working on changing the connectors out to better connectors as they start failing. I got fluctuating fuel pressure in flight too. I went to replace the connectors and also found a really slow fuel leak. Hopefully this helps any. As for the tach, I had some issue too; but I had also put on a new governor so I don't think I can offer any help. I can tell you the EI tach is accurate. It matches an optical tach almost perfectly. As long as it's stable, you can trust it. I'd say check your governor if you didn't do any prop work.
  19. Finished the upgrade of my panel and need to sell off the old hardware. Selling my Horizon Instruments P-1000 digital tach. Worked fine when removed. Includes the harness and circuit breaker for installation. Looks like they sell on eBay for $250-300. I'll let it go to a fellow MooneySpacer for $200 or make me an offer.

  22. Now that my upgrade is done, I don't need my stratus anymore. Just in time for Christmas it's for sale. Looks like they go for around $300-$350ish on eBay. I'd let it go to a fellow mooney driver for $250.
  23. Not sure how exactly it's not lining up, but when we did my nose gear we had to encourage it to move with a large c-clamp to get the holes to align.
  24. In the later year models, it's electric in the yoke; not pneumatic. They moved the dump valve elsewhere and operate it electrically. I had the cap but it got broken and lost when we refinished the yokes a while back. I like having it a lot, but I really like it deactivating when I grab the yoke. It's so much better than pushing through the wing leveler when I want to hand fly. The topic bubbled back up to the forefront to get a new cap when my existing solution shifted and I have to pull on the switch to turn the leveler back on when I release the yoke. That's annoying. Most likely I'll end up trying to "design" my own. I thought I would see if anyone had one first to save a step or two. I'll let you know when/if I get it right in case you want one for your plane, @Yetti.
