    At an APS seminar, the GAMI Guys said they tufted the engine in a Bonanza, and put a camera in there. Just as you say, the airflow was not at all what was expected, and in some cases, flow was reversed.

    I have not made the jump to light speed yet, but two data points are: 1. We have a member @OSUAV8TER who is a dealer, and gives MooneySpacers great support 2. I have a friend who put some non-Whelen LEDs on his airplane, and had a nightmare with radio noise

    And, paint that is a few years old may not be Matterhorn White any more. White is probably less affected by the environment than other colors, but they all change with time.

    Just to elaborate on @201Mooniac a little, I’m only aware of a single auto paint store in my area. They can electronically determine the color of your somewhat faded paint, and mix a container that will match almost perfectly. The original colors are probably not relevant at this point. Not cheap, but it will look perfect except for potential differences in how it shines.

    You would have to be asleep to miss the purge date. They give adequate warning. I’m sure it happens when someone dies or is no longer able to pay attention.

    That makes sense. I always intend to make drawings or take pictures when I disassemble something, but then sometimes a lying little voice says "c'mon, you can remember this". But then I don't. Without looking at the airplane, I didn't realize that the gauge was installed in one end of the panel, creating an opportunity for an incorrect install when putting it back together.

    This thread has been running for a while, so I don't remember if you mentioned it before, but I'm wondering if you have to split the case to get into where you need to be? If so, it sounds like a lot of hours!
