  1. Thanks Ed, Lisa and Clarence. Boo Phillips!
  2. Jash, I needed one and couldn't find a Mooney specific prop control handle. Lasar recommended the Piper handle. It fits just fine, one screw. There is one on ebay here... http://www.ebay.com/itm/PIPER-ARROW-PA28R-180-AIRCRAFT-BLUE-PROPELLER-CONTROL-KNOB-PART-NO-24047-00-/272682268142?hash=item3f7d2135ee:g:CY4AAOSw0hlZGOd1&vxp=mtr This should work as well... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mixture-Control-Knob-Throttle-Quadrant-Meets-Current-FARs-shape-color-/261767660292?hash=item3cf2918304:g:piwAAOSwPhdU17ML&vxp=mtr
  3. Looks like apple only for now. Very cool. Here's a tutorial...
  4. Don't see it on play store for Android. Fly Q pocket installed.
  5. ...or Mary Ann vs Ginger?
  6. Molasses can be substituted for aircraft oil in extreme emergencies. Saw this on a Gilligans Island episode.
  7. Does the new "T" qualify as owner produced part? Who signed your log book?
  8. Jesse, What a cool find! This experience alone is a once in a lifetime event. I was involved at a young age with a barn find, a 1967 big block Corvette convertible. A mentor of mine bought it and got it running and I was a part of that, I still cherish the memory of riding down the road listening to the side pipe exhaust and all the heads turining to look at this time capsule. As cool as it was to be a part of it, I didn't have the means or know how to bring that car to completion. Airplane ownership can be very costly. More so than classic cars or even houses. It can also be very rewarding, If my 24 year old son wanted to buy this Mooney, I would discourage him from doing so. Having owned a couple of planes, I know the hidden costs that abound. What I would do however is encourage him to buy a home, fix it up and rent it out. Use the cash flow from the rental, even if it is just a couple of hundred dollars a month, toward the airplane dream. Let someone else pay for your airplane and pay off your house. You are young, build your empire and then buy the airplane that you want. In the end it will be a much more satisfying experience. Thanks for sharing this experience. I look forward to finding out what becomes of this beauty. Best, Steve
  9. Guten tag mooneyfk. Looks like the quick drain is leaking a bit to me. You might try plugging it somehow (temporarily of course) and see if you are still getting the leak.
  10. It gets thick like @Marauder s girls in the cold.
  11. I wonder if the turbo translates to higher insurance premiums? Does anyone who has made the transition from J to K have any insight on additional cost?
  12. Ah the unexpected ice bucket when you aren't looking. You might be due compensation. I think we have a lawyer or two on here. Nice job and congrats! If you can make it, try to come to Mooney Summit. I went last year as a new Mooney owner and learned much. The wife enjoyed the beach time as well. Steve
  13. @MBDiagMan that tow bar/golf cart combo is potentially dangerous for your nose truss. Backing the plane in is when it's most susceptible. Try to mark your turn limits where it will be easily seen while backing the cart.
  14. Did you hear it snap? What led you to look for damage?
  15. No damage to rudder controls. The good thing is this FBO and line person won't be busting up a Mooney nose truss for a long time. Hopefully never again.
  16. Me too, except I call the prior day and tell them I'm coming and do not want to be moved and where would they like me to park. Even though I did this, on a long trip a couple of weeks ago I came to the airport the next morning to find my plane had been moved. I guess I'm going to have to make a "do not tow" sign and stick it where the tow bar goes.
  17. +1 for the powertow 40
  18. @Hank Here are some pics. I doubt the hole is factory now as it sure doesn't line up with the screw very well. Turn in to make horn sound earlier in your throttle pull, turn out to delay horn.
  19. Looks like he was under power. What gives?
  20. Hank, Do you have a throttle quadrant? I'll get some pics of mine opened up tomorrow. It would be helpful for you to see how and where the microswitch is located So you know what you're turning.
  21. Mine comes on at 17". Disassembled the quadrant cover and saw the switch so I turned it out some. When I was reassembling everything, I found the access hole in the cover. Went for a test flight and now the alarm doesn't come on at all. I took a phillips head with me to adjust it but the shaft was too wide to fit in the access hole. If anyone searches this in the future, bring a small diameter phillips screwdriver and make minor adjustments.
  22. It must be factory, I have one as well.
  23. Do you fish blindfolded?
  24. Awesome instructions, looks great!
