  1. I used numbers on the iPad to create a weight and balance calculator. I am certain it could be used to easily create a takeoff/landing distance calculator. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. I've got no plans on going to Indy, but I can possibly be talked into giving you a ride up there for fuel. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. You can't see the air mattress, cooler and power supply on the inside. That's as close as we get to roughing it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Hello all, I have several items which were removed during my recent panel upgrade which may be of use to some of you up for sale. Some of the items are of value, others are likely good for paper weights (Loran, ADF). All were in good working condition when removed. Cluster (P/N: 640281-503) Manifold/Fuel Pressure Gauge (P/N: 21M102-2) Tachometer (P/N: D1-112-5023) EGT Gauge (P/N: 202A-4A) Also have a KX175B, KI201C CDI, KMA 20TSO Audio Panel, KN65A DME, and Sigtronic SPA-400 Intercom. Best offer wins. Brandon
  5. Are there any existing ADSB solutions which are compatible with both terrestrial and satellite ADSB? It seems that the terrestrial ADSB solutions we are being forced to install in our airplanes by 2020 will be quickly outdated (if they are not already).
  6. No rules. My list is long as well. I generally add 2 for every 1 I check off. • Fly to Cuba • Land at every public airport in my home state (getting closer) • Fly around Mt. McKinley • Sit at the controls of something with a turbine • Fly the Hudson (hope to do this later this summer) • Build an experimental ... The list is long, but that is good. 7. Bruce's design appears similar to the one I recently implemented. The main difference is that I used much larger eyeball vents over airflow concerns. I will say that the eyeballs are much better because you can direct the airflow where you want it. You can see the eyeball vents in the attached selfie (sorry about that, but it's the only pic I have on me) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. I got to fly a low approach over the NASA shuttle landing strip today. It was amazing to fly the approach that all of our returning orbiters flew. This was a check mark on the bucket list. What is your aviation bucket list?
  9. I would gladly give up the Lycoming for one of these with a hybrid drive system. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. My Alt Bus popped when the voltage regulator went out. I would seek a spike on the ammeter and the breaker would pop at the top of the arc.
  11. I flew into KHWO a few weeks back. The amenities are awful, but I was only at the airport long enough to call for a ride with Uber. It was a 25-30 minute ride to downtown Miami with traffic. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. I am not sure the reasons for the change, but it is a shame that VFR traffic is no longer tracked. It was a valuable tool for many reasons: 1) Family could track you and know you are safe; 2) Self-critique of flight; 3) External cross-reference for transponder reporting (Mode C), ground speed and rate of climb. I used it extensively when I was in the market for a J to verify the owners' claimed speeds. It seems that everyone has a 160 KT J model when it is time to sale.
  13. Actually, Flightaware does not even seem to pick up VFR flights with flight following these days. I am not sure why the change, but the last flight shown for me was on November 1, 2015 and I have had no fewer than a dozen flights since that date with flight following (Miami, Atlanta, Chattanooga, Mobile, Orlando, Jackson (MS) to name a few)
  14. You guys have 1000+ lbs useful? I only have 994.6... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Nice looking J. Best of luck with the sale. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. It looks like most are out for tomorrow. I had planned on going, but will stick to the poker run at Logan Martin if it is a bust for KEUF. Tough decision between plane/boat...
  17. What time do y'all want to meet on the 21st? Noon? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. By the way, UPS has had at least one accident. A couple of years back a UPS plane crashed at KBHM while landing on the RNAV for RWY 18. Both pilots lost their lives. Night RNAV approaches are no longer allowed on RWY 18/36 as a result. Funny post, but factually inaccurate. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. The house is not so great, but sure is a nice piece of property. Us Mooney guys would need to raise funds for some asphalt on that runway though.
  20. I am game for the 21st in Eufaula. (Will have to get permission from the boss though). I will likely have my 9 & 7 year olds in tow. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. It was a ton of work, but saving money was the motivating factor. Not counting the instrument panel work, I have $1,670 in the interior upgrade. I think it's a pretty good bang for the buck.
