  1. $Couple hundred? Couple thousand? When no price is given I lean toward the latter... or more. New Mooney’s are flying off the shelves at three quarters of a million. This is TRUMP change. Or is it CHUMP? I am sure that the installation and purchase price will immediately result in a significant increase in value and sale price recovering all your investment. You will get 5-10 knots speed be super visible in the sky (over stock tip/strobe/rec light) and look sporty doing it. Buy four because when they come in contact with a hard object (your hanger wall) they will need swappin’.
  2. (Presumably unofficial) that everyone in Pacific North West challenges authority for sport.
  3. Thanks for your reply. NOT confused. Stated my case. OEM PMA light bulb IS available. I would replace with same as a $200 bulb is ridiculous and especially so for a taillight recognition on a piston single. So yes, I will state my opinion on those that spend that money for a bulb (acknowledge that they can) and ridicule those that put non-certified bulbs on their planes. Have a nice day.
  4. Not talking about an airliner. YOU injected that into this thread. What I was talking about was a link that had LED bulb (in this thread) that is $20 bucks. NOT tso’d or pma’d or approved in any way. OR the other rich guys that spend $200 bucks on a certified “upgrade” to their tail-light white bulb. THAT is what I am talking about...OR the guys that pop in a hose clamp from NAPA in their engine. I don’t WANT your airplanes. I want a certified airplane that is maintained by an IA that does it right and would call me on a non-approved part that I installed. Maybe a milled aluminum seatback adjustment that may or may not meet OEM criteria. I don’t really give a rats about what you do with your plane, but I don’t like you coming on here bragging about your hanger fairy whiz bang wink nod fix you did. That is a FAIL to me. To that I say again: Make it experimental, go to an experimental thread and have at it.
  5. Hey clever, how’s that working out so far?
  6. I don’t want to buy your airplanes. Just make it experimental and stop bitching. I spit on your “hanger fairey” B.S. I think anyone that pays $200 bucks for a tail recognition light is an idiot. Take that same person installing a non-certified light and I just face palm. What a waste of money. Nothing funny about thwarting regulations. Don’t do it in a certified plane. End of story. To those that say just put it in and keep the extra...REALLY?
  7. +1 Except I have an XEVision Landing light (HID) and wingtip strobes. I refuse to pay the prices for the rotating beacon and position lights. CB says NOPE as mine are functional and the strobes and HID provide good “I’m here” collision avoidance.
  8. How about I just find another couple of seats (if and when I need them) and remove and reinstall? You are a business. You provide a service. That you make a profit and can price how you want is obvious. As a potential customer I also have the right to say: NOPE I can buy a machined functional firearm for less than that. I bought custom panel cut outs with N number for less than that.
  9. I feel competent that unlike the infamous baggage door hold open you will actually receive your gold like aluminum orbs...Good for U.
  10. I paid $200 for a whole interior including two seats and yokes...Programming a CNC is not rocket science for Pete sake. You people have more money than sense. I mean cents...
  11. $400? What is aluminum going for these days? CB says NOPE.
  12. In the video shown there is a clear view of the ground and he stalled and dropped like a brick to a fiery end killing four innocent passengers. FAIL. END of story.
  13. MMmmk. You had just said, well you read your quote on spending more money, but no similar...The E and C are very similar. Not saying one is better...JUST similar.
  14. I had literally gone from viewing a Mooney pilot that lost an engine at 500’ (safety institute video) and made the impossible turn. He had a lot going for him. 4000+ hours. Day VFR. Home Airport. Single pilot mission. His Plane. He still forgot flaps. Said it was the only time he landed the plane sans flaps. Those poor souls didn’t have the domino’s stacked in their favor.
  15. Horrific video. Flying in a single engine plane at night in mountainous terrain is not for me. I too hope the passengers understood the risk they were undertaking beyond a “normal” flight.
  16. M20E? Come on man...
  17. I think it is hilarious that a guy asks about ins and outs of buying a C and morphs into a “I spent more on my panel than the plane is worth, look at my awesome panel”. Good advise on the pre-buy. Look at the logs for history. A lot depends on your purchase price. If a new engine has been factored in that is not a problem, but bonus time flying before overhaul. Tank reseal and bladders is a $7-10k proposition plus down time. Usually tanks and senders (fuel smell in cockpit) weep before they run and NEED sealed. Inspection of tubular steel in cabin as well as spar inspection (Below rear seat) are CRITICAL as this can require a wing replacement or make the plane not airworthy. Gear pucks are $100 bucks a piece and there are about a dozen. A tool can be rented to replace. A bigger deal in a heavier long body plane. They should have been replaced and upgraded (fewer pucks) at least once. Not a deal killer, but a negotiation. The avionics are going to get updated by you as will interior if original. These can be done a little at a time, but I would deduct if no GPS/Engine Monitor and ADSB. Again negotiation stuff. If Hartzell prop they have an eddy-current inspection that adds up over time and is a hassle. Hope it works out for you. I trained on 150’s and flew 172’s before buying my short body Mooney. THERE IS NO COMPARISON. Mooney is hands down a better experience and a lot faster.
  18. Passive aggressive much? Rhetorical.
  19. You are being a b Yetti. You don’t buy a refurbed TC100 from Spruce...Maybe decades ago. Jerry from Brittain...the company that manufactured it went through everything they refurbed to ensure proper function. you received a yellow tag and logbook sticker with detailed information. If he installed he flight tested and did weight and balance revision. Go back and find a decade old photo of my bird on its belly and post it here if you can find it to get your rocks off...
  20. Not to nit Cliffy, but he did say a $10k auto pilot is out of the question. Your example is $7k PLUS install. $10k...so this is a non-starter option. A lot of folks benefited and more safer due to Brittain. They were a cost effective option for lowly VFR guys like me.
  21. Big guy being a little b me thinks. Get over it man...
  22. I will again state that installation of an audible gear and stall annunciation is a CB’s friend.
  23. Wish I would of had Jerry (RIP) yellow tag my TC100. Add that to the things I wish I would have done pile. He was a great human being and the heart and soul of Brittain. CC and Kevin were awesome too. Fingers crossed that someone steps in and like a Phoenix, Brittain rises again.
  24. Like every wonderful movie I have ever seen (and vicariously lived) I had shock, goose bumps, adrenaline and tears of joy. Just a great ending to an experience we all hope we will not ever experience, but quietly wonder how we would do... You and Bear have your answer. Adrenaline is being human. You nailed it Erik. I give you a Ten teach.
