  1. Do any of you use the boom cannulas? I have heard from a few people who love them and both Mountain High and Precise Flight offer them: http://www.mhoxygen.com/face-masks/cannulas Robert
  2. Don't know, have never flown a Navajo. My point was that speculating without data isn't a constructive contribution to us all learning from others' experiences. It is also potentially very unfair to the folks who will be held accountable, without any evidence, by the court of public opinion.
  3. and, before we blame them for being out of fuel, the female crew member reported that the right fuel pump had failed. Let's wait and see what the TSB finds before drawing conclusions
  4. $600 for the GMU44 and $375 for the troubleshooting and installation labor plus $18.50 shipping. Total $993.50
  5. To add to my earlier comment; I do an oil analysis at every oil change. Blackstone sends the analysis with a short write-up on what they consider noteworthy, my AP and I always review/discuss it. The quarterly timing strikes me as better than "once a year at annual" as it gives you a chance to monitor the trends throughout the year. Relative to the overall cost of ownership this is cheap insurance. Robert
  6. This argument resonates with me. If I were a buyer and someone offered/presented me with a multi-year list of oil analysis reports I'd take that as (one small piece of) evidence that the owner took care of that plane. So if I were on the fence on which aircraft to buy that might tip the scales.
  7. LOL, I'll bet. T-Hangars at KHPN are apparently $1200/mo and up. However, I discovered that things have changed/improved a bit a DXR. Just found a shared (2 planes) hangar opportunity for $550/mo moving in with a flight school. There is also communal hangar space at $500 and at $750/mo. 1 or 2 T-Hangars at $675. Rob, word on the street is that OXC will be closed for part of the summer? The guy I'll be subletting from mentioned getting regular inquiries from people looking for a spot to park while Oxford is closed. That true? Robert
  8. That 1-800-GA-Voice number makes it dead easy. Took me no more than 5 minutes to reach all 3 of mine and leave the message with staffers. Get on the phone y'all!
  9. Greg, Given that your family is only going to be growing in weight and size, and that you're operating out of a short-ish field you may want to keep looking at the 4-blade MT as well. My understanding is that it'll do even better in the acceleration/climb department. Robert
  10. done, took less than 5 minutes.
  11. For future reference: The GMU44 had conked out on me. Shop replaced it and all is well. However, Mooneys have a slightly different bootblock and software setup than other G1000 installations, so the shop (unaware of the related SB) tried to install the GMU44 with what they had and "bricked" it. They sent out for another one and did it right, the 2nd time around. They're good people and were duly embarrassed. All's well that ends well
  12. Sounds like a great plan! We look forward to the pictures this summer Robert
  13. @Jose Monteiro @goncaloareia Hardy Heinlin's Aerowinx PS1? You mean I'm not the only one here who knows about that? Welcome on board! Robert
  14. I have never used the rudder trim, and was similarly wondering if this was a solution in search of a problem. Sounds like Peter found out it is real. I intend to wait till next annual in October and then I'll see what I'm going to do about it. Robert PS: welcome on board Peter "L"
  15. Interesting, I did not know that. I'll check that that has been happening.
  16. Yuck, reseated the pins and still no joy. Off to the avionics shop
  17. Thanks Rob. Good tips, I never check Barnstormers.
  18. Hi gang, Had planned a leasurely luncheon run today...pre-flight, start....and oops, G1000 presents me with 2 error messages, no SVT and the HDG indication "crossed out." Error messages were: HDG Fault: AHRS1 Magnetometer Fault has occurred Traffic Fail: Traffic Device Failed on the Aux page I get nice red "X" letters instead of checkmarks for GDL90 and GMU1 Master/Alternator on/off twice, pulled and pushed circuit breaker. No joy. Hoping it is loose connector, bent pins rather than the unit actually failing. My A&P will look at it in the morning (had a deadline project today). Anyone have run into these before? Robert
  19. Anyone know of hangar space at those 3 airports? Rent better than buy, but might be interested in either option. My poor Ovation is taking a real beating on tie-down Robert
  20. yeah silly question on my part. I picked up the mistaken impression that there were WAAS Acclaims flying around with 401.30; but according to the SB they also all got .34. So never mind
  21. Renewed. Thanks for keeping this community going! Robert
  22. I didn't know there was one! How much of a restriction? Always, or only when the system is activated? Robert
  23. Hi gang, Anyone know what the differences might be between 401.30 and 401.34? 401.30 was installed on GFC700 equipped aircraft (Acclaims and Ovations) when WAAS upgrades first came out. My Ovation just got 401.34 when I upgraded. Now I'm curious what the newer upgrade may have added. Robert
  24. David, Apologies for not responding earlier. I've been in Europe and am behind I had my upgrades done 2 weeks after Paul at LV Avionics and paid the same as Paul. Am very pleased with the new capabilities Robert
  25. Current engine technology is from the 30s. Diesel and Rotax would be a lot simpler to operate and lower maintenance cost and equal or better performance (in fuel effectiveness especially). lot’s of room for improvements. Go for it!
