chrisk Posted May 31, 2013 Report Posted May 31, 2013 Makes me feel better about my botched landings!
AndyFromCB Posted May 31, 2013 Report Posted May 31, 2013 How come nobody showed this to me before I spent millions on developing a single wheel STC for M20 aircraft to increase the useful load ;-)
FlyDave Posted May 31, 2013 Report Posted May 31, 2013 Was that a G430 I saw in the panel ? Geeze - These guys should have had AOA indicators in those things! (I'm leaving for vacation in 1 hour and I can't seem to be serious about anything right now!)
Jeff_S Posted May 31, 2013 Report Posted May 31, 2013 What a great song to go with the footage, too. I'm sure we've all felt the same way about our airplanes at one point or another.
Skywarrior Posted May 31, 2013 Report Posted May 31, 2013 I feel better seeing an AF pilot also getting frisked by CBP...
thinwing Posted May 31, 2013 Report Posted May 31, 2013 What was that Kelly Johnson thinking when he came up with that ground loopin landing gear...and the chase drivers...gad I bet they go thru a set of Michelins a week!!
carusoam Posted May 31, 2013 Report Posted May 31, 2013 Anyone with an iPad able to see the clip? I must be missing something good... Best regards, -a-
fantom Posted May 31, 2013 Report Posted May 31, 2013 Back when I was TDY to Davis-Monthan AFB, in Tucson AZ, it was a hoot watching U-2's take off and land. Back then there were supercharged pick-up trucks on each side of the runway following the planes. They had cushioned beds for the thin wing tips to rest on. Hauling down the side of the runway at about 140 MPH must have been a dream assignment for those airmen. There was a U-2 pilot in the truck communicatiing altitude and centerline information with the flyer. Anyone who thinks a Mooney is hard to land better not go near a U-2
47U Posted May 31, 2013 Report Posted May 31, 2013 Not a G430, rather three purpose-built MFDs They do use Garmin handhelds for back-up nav on operational missions... just in case. And they did add AOA 10 or 12 years ago. 1
