wishboneash Posted May 22, 2013 Report Posted May 22, 2013 There is a comment period for the new airmen certification standards. I haven't read it yet but quickly glanced through the IFR portion. Please see http://www.regulations.gov/#!docketDetail;rpp=100;so=DESC;sb=docId;po=0;D=FAA-2013-0316 Quote
Marauder Posted May 22, 2013 Report Posted May 22, 2013 I haven't seen the old standards in a while, but it does now look like for the instrument portion they are including usage of MFDs if installed. Quote

sleepingsquirrel Posted May 22, 2013 Report Posted May 22, 2013 I've read that the whole thing is just a rewrite with different words. I read that not much changes for those already with a certificate. I read that new pilots to be are to expect nearly a 100% wash out rate unless they meet the commercial requirements. Then I read between the lines and determined that flying is a privilage not a right and that in order to meet an acceptable accident rate, the GA privilage will be revoked. I've gotten all this information from the internet pilot forums so it must be true. 1 Quote
FloridaMan Posted May 23, 2013 Report Posted May 23, 2013 That's perfect. You know you can fly right-seat in Europe with just 180 hours. Here in the US, GA gives natural selection a better chance than in Europe. I can't think of any time a domestic airline had anything more than a propellor twin stall to the ground. European FOs will stall the international flights to the ground. Quote
