Awful_Charlie Posted February 19, 2010 Report Posted February 19, 2010 I'm having great trouble finding someone in Switzerland who can cut me a spare set of keys. When I ask my Mooney dealer to order some blanks, they tell me it is not possible, and I can only get keys with a new lock set! Can anyone recommend a supplier? - the ignition is a Medeco and to door is a brass Chicago Lock Company - the latter will sell me a box of 50 which is a bit OTT! Ben Quote
sellis Posted February 19, 2010 Report Posted February 19, 2010 Ben, You can order the keys directly from Mooney. There should be a number on the key that starts with XB####. Call 830-896-6000 ext 2912 and give her that number and she will have one made and sent to you. Stacey Quote
Rustler Posted February 19, 2010 Report Posted February 19, 2010 Ben-- Your Medco key has a code attached to it that Medco will use to duplicate it. Somewhere in your logs should be an entry indicating the installation of the lock and the code that goes with it. Why not go the entire Medco route? Install Medcos on the cockpit and baggage compartment doors and establish a single supplier for your keys. Quote
Awful_Charlie Posted February 19, 2010 Author Report Posted February 19, 2010 Thank you Stacey I'll have to call next week, as the ignition key only has "RL" on it, but I'm pretty sure there is a number stamped into the face of the lock, which means a drive over to the hangar. Michael - I'm hoping this is going to be a one off job, so having sorted this out, I'm not too worried about having keys from different sources Thanks again Ben Quote
