nels Posted November 25, 2012 Report Posted November 25, 2012 The fins on my oil cooler look pretty bad; like it went through some hail which bent over all the fins. I may try combing them oiut but would prefer replacing it. Anyone have a spare? Quote
Steve65E-NC Posted November 25, 2012 Report Posted November 25, 2012 Check your aircraft log. Oil cooler less than 10 years old, comb it out or (and if older) send to specialty house for iran and evaluation. I think you can buy a special comb from someone like Aircraft Spruce. You do not give the year of your E. If it does not have the dog house over the engine, I recommend the Lasar mod that moves oil cooler behind #4 Cylinder and leaves opening for second landing light or taxi light. My 65E has the dog house, otherwise I would do this mod quickly. Quote
Alan Fox Posted November 26, 2012 Report Posted November 26, 2012 Buy a new one from spruce , The Niagra brands are inexpensive , and part #s cross over to the mooneys... Quote
nels Posted November 26, 2012 Author Report Posted November 26, 2012 Any idea on cost? Mine is a 65 E model. Quote
Alan Fox Posted November 26, 2012 Report Posted November 26, 2012 I purchased one for my last mooney from spruce , it was maybe 200 or 250 if memory serves me correctly..... Quote
nels Posted November 28, 2012 Author Report Posted November 28, 2012 Spruce quoted $484 for a remote unit. I guess I can do a lot of combing for that price. So, I guess a used one is a good possibility. Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted November 28, 2012 Report Posted November 28, 2012 I think I have a rebuilt yellow tagged cooler in the hanger from when I had my M20F. If you havn't found one let me know and I'll go out and check. It has not been used sense overhaul. Quote

N601RX Posted November 29, 2012 Report Posted November 29, 2012 The E and F use a double pass oil cooler. Its divided down the middle and the oil makes 2 passes through it. It basicall comes out the same end it goes in. I believe the B's and C's use a single pass where the oil goes in one end and comes out the other. You might want to double check this and make sure.
