Purchased my Mooney M20C recently and it is ready for an oil change with 46 hours on the tach since last oil change. I'm going to do this myself (with supervision from an A&P friend). I have everything I need except for oil filter cutter. Spruce has close to a dozen different cutters ranging from $60 to 120 but unfortunately no reviews to guide you. What cutters do you guys use and does it work well or not. I can ask my A&P buddy but curious what you guys are using. Thanks

I bought an Airwolf. It is quite nice, and when I use it,I almost forget how much it cost. I suspect the cheapest one would work.

If you're going to be changing your own oil invest in a high quality cutter. You want one that makes a clean cut and it's easy to use. You don't want to chew up the can because that will surely contaminate the media thus defeating the purpose. Also that's a good way to cut your hands. The higher quality cutters also have interchangeable blades.

I just did mine on Thursday and I use the KRC 1203

Put the filter top in a vice, put this on top and crank away.

1 min later the bottom falls off. Mine took a bit longer since the cutter was shot.. Just ordered a new one.

KRC Racing...

From a variety of sources.

(a pilot friend gave it to me when he sold his Arrow)

That's what I have too. Got it at Oshkosh one year. Works fine for me.
