All,

In my search for a plane, I've spoken to and/or flown a number of "stock" 201's. Many of the people with 1984 and later model year planes claim to get 160 KTAS on 10 GPH while earlier model owners claim 155-157 on 10.5-11.5.

Any 201 owners out there willing to provide your cruise performance (Alt, TAS & GPH)?

Thanks,

My '77 is pretty close to Cruiser's numbers...perhaps 1-2 knots slower but that is right in the ballpark.

Keep in mind that all Mooneys are hand-made, and let's just say some are straighter than others, better rigged, etc.  There will be a range of speeds.  I believe the later models are a little bit faster, but not more than 5 knots on average.

Ignore my data for the 201 comparison because I fly an 'E'... Anyway, I wanted to chime in to agree about the wonderful at altitude performance of our aircraft. I flew across the sierra nevada mountains this weekend and decided to do a 4-way speed test -- approx 14,500 density altitude, I was getting 140 knots true on 7.5 gph. 10 knots slower than the '201' numbers reported above, but that's to be expected in an E model.

155 is reasonable to expect.   i use 150 for flight planning tho.

i get less than 10 gph but i have the gami's fitted and run lop.
