Debating whether to go to OSH this year, would love to go and camp -- get the full experience. Forecasts looking kinda crappy though, so will decide closer to the date. I was thinking of requesting camping at GAC-N (GA Camping, north 40). Wondering if anyone had any suggestions?

PS: would love to do caravan but can't make it that day plus need to do their training, so not an option this year.

You don't really get to pick your parking/camping spot aside from Vintage or GA.  They'll send you where there are open spots whenever you arrive.  Getting there after Sunday afternoon likely means you won't get in the N40, at least until people start leaving on Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday.

They do have the option this year of requesting the North 40 or the South 40 by the use of a sign with either an N or S on it.  But as @KSMooniac stated there are no guarantees and the earlier you arrive the more likely you are to be granted your request.

It seems you can expect at least one nasty storm during Airventure every year.

When I went, I stayed with a family that was renting out a couple of rooms for the event.  AC, more private shower, light breakfast included.  Second year, the guy lent me his PU truck for the 4 days I was there.

Although I have stood behind Mooneys being able to handle grass, I would deter anyone from taxiing one on wet grass. With the possibility of a fair amount of rain this weekend, I would probably even be pretty cautious taking a 172 or a bonanza on wet grass. As stated, I love landing on grass strips, but wet mushy grass is a different story.

If you are going to OSH, remove your lower gear doors. They will take a beating taxiing through the grass. It isn’t the grass, it is the ruts and potholes.
