laytonl Posted March 16, 2024 Report Posted March 16, 2024 Guys, I plan to install an JPI EDM-930 in my M20J and need to cut a new panel to make everything fit. I have a rough draft of the new panel in CAD and will likely have someone do a text cut in plexiglass in a couple of weeks. If that is successful, I'll have them do the actual cut. I assume 6061 aluminum is best for the panel. I was thinking of using 1/8" thickness instead of the current 1/16". Any thoughts on this plan? Here is a copy of the DXF file if anyone needs one. Aerodon Posted March 29, 2024 Report Posted March 29, 2024 Hi Lee, Good first try and I can see you put a lot of effort into it. The overall layout hurts my eyes a bit, a bit of a random layout. My guess is you are two or three trial versions away from a final cut. I am on Rev_10 for M20J's and K's, and each one is a little better. Mooney used 0.100" and had very little material between th instruments. Tightest layout out of all the manufacturers and thickest panel. And most instruments have an 0.090 bezel anyway. 2024-T3 works well. And it looks like you are not doing the 1/2" radius at the bottom? Aerodon Quote
