I am looking for someone willing & capable to reseal my 1979 Mooney fuel tank(s).  The aircraft is a Rocket 305 Conversion and has extended range tanks.  Just after I bought it, I had it in Sanford, FL to have all tanks resealed by Propellerhead Aviation, Inc. (Bill Boege, proprietor).  The right inboard and long-range tanks started leaking soon after he had it in his shop.  Bill Boege at Propellerhead offered a 7-year warranty and is now unwilling to live up to his warranty obligation.  He has strung me along for nearly three years and recently told me he didn’t want to hear from me anymore.  I've complied with his request to send photos of the leaks and the aircraft location, but since then he has ignored multiple communication attempts to reply with the warranty activation process to correct his shoddy resealing work failure.  It is disappointing that he ignores this responsibility as it was a very expensive $14K repair and took 4 months (although he told me it would only take six weeks).  I hear Weeps No More (in Minnesota) does good work as well as Wetwingologists.  Again, I only need both tanks on one wing resealed and am seeking any advice on leads for reputable shops who perform this task.  Any input will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

I had my tanks done 10 years ago at Weep No More.  I have had only one small issue that was easily repaired but it was outside the warranty time that was done so my local A&P fixed it with no other issues.  This leak was down around the fuel drain.  Anyways,  I would go with Weep No More as they do excellent work and I don't think there would be any issue if you had a warranty problem come up.  With that being said, Paul at Weep No More is booked out quite far in advance so I would get on his schedule ASAP; I think it is the same with Wetwingologists.

Sorry to hear about your fuel tank problems.

I took my Rocket with Monroy long-range tanks to Wetwingologists last summer to have all of them resealed.   He was on time and on budget.  It's only been 6 months, but no leaks yet.

Same here, had both tanks resealed at WetWingologists last summer. Edison has a great reputation for honoring his seven year warranty, which is one reason he got the business.

If you feel strongly enough about it and the warranty is in writing, and you've documented all of your correspondence, you could file for up to $8000 in small claims court in FL. Collecting on a judgment may be another story however. For the cost of the filing fees it might catch his attention though. https://help.flcourts.gov/Other-Resources/Small-Claims

Either Paul or Edison do great work and they stand behind what they do.

Anyone know how far is the queue these days for these two shops?

I had the tanks on my Bravo done by Weep No More 6 years ago, no leaks, a neighbor of mine had the tanks of his Eagle done by Wet Wingologist about 6 months ago, quite happy so far. There is one other shop in Texas that specializes in Mooney tanks, Houston Tank Specialists. Call all of them, see what the backlog is. In the meantime you may look for somebody local to patch the tanks. The 3 major tank shops are typically booked one year out. Hard to tell if small claims court is worth it for you, depends how much time you have. Sorry the reseal went South, this is really hard work and even more so if you do not have the equipment that is used by the 3 major shops.

I live in Texas and I would wait for a spot in MN or FL.

Plus one for Edison’s work and the way he honors his warranty!
