Danb Posted November 26, 2023 Report Posted November 26, 2023 Flying yesterday outside temperature 38 so not cold yet. At 3000 feet -3*C, my hottest CHT was 290 rest 270-290. What’s my risk for low CHTs. My profile was about 23” 2400 RPMs Quote

Schllc Posted November 28, 2023 Report Posted November 28, 2023 I’m wondering if that’s really a problem at altitude. It’s already pretty cold up there and the air is thin. I have not seen a problem in the FL, but I don’t go over 20k too often. Quote
LANCECASPER Posted November 28, 2023 Report Posted November 28, 2023 If you are operating in real cold conditions you could tape over 1/3 of your oil cooler to help keep the temps up, but nothing wrong with 270-290. Mooney made a cold weather kit which effectively did that - it blocked off part of the oil cooler. 1 Quote
