Hi, I’m new to the forum. I just purchased a 1980 M20J. I have a 11” iPad that I would like to locate in the cockpit. Looking for recommendations as to a holder . Thanks Jed

Welcome!  Almost everyone has an iPad, so there will likely be many responses.  Only thing I can offer is that many mount their iPad Mini on the yoke.  Larger iPads are usually mounted elsewhere, or not mounted at all.

I have both a regular iPad and Mini.

In my Mooney, the Mini works well, yoke mounted.  The bigger one just doesn't fit well.  Too big.

I do yoke and fly the larger iPad in CAP C-182s I fly.

I have considered and may try tomorrow, mounting the bigger iPad on the right side.  I have nothing there, so will try a suction cup mount.  More for the person in the right sear.

I have the RAM Yoke Mount that a lot of people have.

Search for "iPad yoke mount" and you should find a discussion from just a few weeks ago.  There are a few pictures on how people mount their iPads.  I use a short and long extension arms to get it in the right place.  @Pinecone posted some links that actually show a jointed arm that does what I do a lot cleaner.  (Had I only known...)

And welcome to the Mooney family!

I have an ipad Air, so similar size that is mounted on the right side panel above the co-pilot yoke area.  When I updated my panel, I kept the right side empty for that reason.
It takes up all the height from under the glare shield brow and leaves about an inch above the yoke shaft.  It is angled towards the pilot a bit, and works great.  Unless you have that area do the panel clear, an iPad this large won't work well anywhere.

The RPM and MAP are both on the EI 830, so no worries it being blocked a bit.  I had a bit of a headwind that day...

I use a mini on the pilot yoke.

(this iPad Air 2 is for sale if anyone is interested.  I got a new one is the reason.)
