Does anyone have the K factor used for configuring fuel flow on a G3X while retaining the factory Shadin transducer, with bonus points for one from a 231?

Since K factor is specific to the sensor…

If you are not changing the sensor, the k factor won’t change.

If you are changing the plumbing, the factor may change some as well…

What is making you think the G3X is driving a change?

As mentioned in a duplicate thread that I deleted, The k factor isn’t on my display unit unfortunately.

Assuming that the original FloScan transducer is still installed, the K-factor should be approximately 28.9. Each transducer is flow tested before shipment and should have the exact K-Factor marked on the casting. Also, there should be a label on the top of the Shadin miniflo-L that states the K-factor it was set to at the factory.

You will probably find that the K-factor needs to be adjusted to get the best accuracy.

Additionally…

the K factor gets affected by the qualities of installation…

This where the install instructions mention distance between the sensor, and the angle, of bends, before and after the sensor itself…

oddly…

The bends, upstream and downstream, affect the way the flow in the tube behaves…

and this behavior affects the flow inside the sensor…

And…

If for some reason the the sensor is indicating higher than normal flow rates… this can be caused by air bubbles entering a leak up stream…

Lower than normal… dirty deposits on the vanes changes the volume of fuel delivered in each rotation…

Possible resources of starting places to look for the K-factor that you had…

it is stored in the display where the calculations are performed… fire up the old display, and go through the menus until you find it…

or look up your sensor’s name and model number to find what the starting K-factor is supposed to be…  this is a sample for a flowscan… http://www.floscan.com/html/blue/aviation.php

There is an odd chance somebody wrote it down in the log books when it was last calibrated…

Got a pic of the sensor you have?  There are a couple of popular sensors used around here…

PP thoughts only, not a mechanic…
