gwav8or Posted May 5, 2022 Report Posted May 5, 2022 Looking at an F model next week. 3 blade MT propeller was installed in 2019. What’s the deal with them? Any benefits? Any real negatives? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk If you like light weight, and modern airfoils… you are good to go… The newer MTs have been through some development… in terms of leading edge materials and paint… Older ones may be showing wear if they didn’t get the updates… Often the prop they replaced had a 100 inspection related to them that was a big source of annoyance… Or there was an avoidance range on the tach…. That got eliminated by the MT… There are no two blade MTs… that would be interesting for the lower HP Mooneys… PP thoughts only, not a mechanic… Best regards, -a- 1 Quote
KSMooniac Posted May 5, 2022 Report Posted May 5, 2022 Love my MT on my J and would choose it again. Lighter, smoother, no RPM restrictions, no vibration, more ground clearance, better takeoff and climb, equal or better cruise... Sent from my LM-V405 using Tapatalk 3 1 Quote

Raptor05121 Posted May 5, 2022 Report Posted May 5, 2022 So far they seem to be the creme-de-la-creme of the props. You get the benefits of the 3-blade (t/o roll, climb, and aerodynamic brake on landing) without any negatives (weight). I don't know much about them other than some I've heard have had paint delamination issues but I think that was a few isolated examples. I'd certainly put the 3-blade MT in a serious contender category for purchase if I were shopping. If they spent that much on a prop, I can only imagine what the panel looks like. 1 Quote
