Will it ever fly again? Shall I dare rescuing the abandoned bird?

One other question, the two mechanics that went and mounted the engine and prop and all, that was all done in two days only?  That is incredible.  I can't even get my oil changed here in two days...
They looked like they were enjoying the project as much as you were.  Best of luck to you and enjoy it....I lived in Switzerland for two years and I sure wish I had gotten an airplane while I was there.  It was such a beautiful country and while I enjoyed taking the train to Germany, France, Italy, and the UK it would have been even better if I could have flown on the weekends.

It was actually those 2 days of hard work PLUS on the third day we discovered the cracked front gear. Soo they had to dismantle it and bring it to the aircraft welding shop. Then they went back, mounted it, replaced the governor again as it was leaking. (I couldn’t attend as I was busy filming the Everest) Then an Italian avionics specialist checked the 1990ies Avionics (22 page report). When I came back I put in a 8.33 transponder and com. And it was eventually flown via Austria and Germany to the avionics shop in the Czech Republic. So in reality it was a little bit more complicated but I wasn’t there to film it. Once the German mechanics were working everything was going smoothly and fast but there was a phase of three or four months of mostly waiting before they had time to pick up the truck and drive down to Italy with all the spare parts.

Irmin, i would either put wig-wag switch for the recog lights or replace them with the LED version when it comes out, as the possibility of forgetting to turn them off after landing goes way up when tower is rattling out taxi instructions and it only takes seconds not mins to warp/melt that cover when there is not airflow over them. It only takes once to cost you a new set of covers. To get a sense of how quick. Have your A&P turn them on while you are at the wingtip and feel with your hand how quickly they heat up. Its fast!

Wow from March 23 to now and this mooney coming along at lightning speed. I’ve seen engine overhauls take longer than this. Truly amazing drive and speed of accomplishment. Well done.

nice job , I love the satisfaction of saving something. so many have a negative stigma about saving aircraft, makes it all the better when another is saved !

Forgive me for not being patient enough to search the forum more thoroughly, but I will simply ask: How was the original 1990 paint on my J done? Did they use an acid etch primer and one coat of paint? Also, I need to do some blend in paint repair, so what kind of paints were used? I am concerned about different kinds of paint will not harmonise chemically. Is there anything I could do to avoide electrochemical reactions between steel screws and aluminium? Please advise. Do you actually say Al-Uminium or Alum-Inium? ;-)

Irmin,

In the first airframe log book for your 201….

You will find some of the paint details for the plane early in the first pages…

The service manual probably covers the details for repair…

Best regards,

I don’t have any paint details, just inspection entries.

Hello again! Is there a way to interconnect the Garmin GTN750xi to the KFC150? Maybe I need a Roll Steering Converter?

I have 2 GI275s, but 1 is only the engine monitor, and the other one is a stand alone device as backup in case of no vacuum and as well as convenient device in front of the co-pilots eyes as it is mounted far right. So no integration into the KFC-150

Thanks!

It depends on what you’re looking to accomplish.  If you’re looking to just have GPSS, I think it’s the same as the G5’s where you’ll need the GMU11 magnetometer and the GAD29B to interface, but then you’ll be using the 275 as the HSI.

for straight GPSS on your existing setup, I believe it’s a different box completely which I can’t remember the model numbers.

I received information that my money is painted with “really white crown” as well as “Mooney blue base”. It seems that this translates to the following white provided by Pratt and Lambert Paint: “033805 REALLY WHITE”. But I am not certain about the blue. It is either “033910 BLUE” or “033926 COLONIAL BLUE”. Any clues?0c3385a3c8266fdea6b33a7a56871405.png

Way cool…

There is a Mini-Irmin involved with the project!

:)

regarding paint details… you can probably contact the Mooney Factory for more details…

You may be equally successful having a local car paint shop copy the paint color from an access panel…

PP thoughts only…

Great opportunity for a Garmin G5.  Though a bit more expensive.

Hi Guys, my AI indicates a stall speed of 53(!)kts. So even though I was offered similar AIs, it was never the same. I wanted to express my gratitude for everyone who offered to help in finding the correct one. It seems we managed to repair the old one though. So very soon I will get my plane back868020eab2933605a6e0ddbabe2371ff.png
