bnicolette Posted December 31, 2011 Report Posted December 31, 2011 Hi all, I had the LASAR cowl mod installed on my 201 to keep the cowl from "floating/shifting" up during flight. I only have a couple of flight on the plane since it was installed, but so far, it is awesome. The cowl is extremely rigid and I can not budge it by hand and it doesn't move in flight. Attached are a couple pictures. picture looking down the inside of the bottom cowl. You can see the new cam locks and also a stip of aluminum at the very bottom with a nut plate. picture of the very bottom of the bottom cowl where a screw goes through the aluminum strip into a nut plate on the opposite side. picture of the bottom of the from fuselage where the aluminum strip is held secure by three new rivets. It was right around a 4 hour job at my local Mooney Service Center and the parts were around $60 from LASAR. In my opinion, it is well worth it as I don't have to pull down on my cowl after every flight so that it doesn't look like my engine is sagging. Also, I now know that my cowling is secure. Quote
