GeneralT001 Posted December 3, 2021 Report Posted December 3, 2021 (edited) So, I'm a relatively experienced pilot (6,000+ hrs all multi-engine IFR / Float rating / Instructor / etc) but still I'm looking at $4,100/yr in Canada. I'm insuring for about $130,000 USD ($165,000) Cdn Is this comparable to what you'd pay in the US for Hull coverage in motion and not in motion? Can I insure with an American company? Parker_Woodruff Posted December 3, 2021 Report Posted December 3, 2021 Insurance in Canada is more expensive, generally speaking. Most people in the US would pay about $1900-$2200/year in the situation you describe (I'm assuming M20J, no claims history, pilot under 65 years old). If the aircraft is primarily based in Canada, you normally have to use a Canadian company. Sometimes with biz jets, etc. which are N-registered but based in Canada, there is the ability to use a US company. Quote
Peter T Posted December 4, 2021 Report Posted December 4, 2021 Not sure who you are insured with.I’m in B.C. And insured with Marsh Canada. Private Pilot, 800 hrs, IFR, 64 hrs old, insured for $150,000 CAD. Recent claim history, premium is $3000 CAD. Quote

AIREMATT Posted December 4, 2021 Report Posted December 4, 2021 You guys should compare coverages too, not just premiums. Limits and total coverages vary the premiums quite a bit if you don’t have the same coverages… 2 Quote
