That's where my OAT probe is, but on the passenger side.

This is a not-very-good cropped photo that sort of shows it.

Seems to work well. But I also get to keep an eye on Carb Temp, which generally gets low first . . . .

I put mine there too!

I installed the probe at the top of the windshield two pieces. The photo is made with a temporary clamping nut, the original is less thick and receives protection. What is your view on this position ?

That location is problematic for sunny days, where the OAT reading gets affected by the direct sunlight...

But it is a good place for an ice probe... when the rain is freezing... that is one of the more visible spots you will see it happening...

The accuracy you want is mostly about knowing when icing conditions won’t occur... when escaping ice...

Other locations on or near the center line of the plane have engine heat related challenges... a thin layer of warm air is coming from the front of the cowling...

So... new Mooneys use an under the wing location just outside the fuel tanks...

The extra wire run is a pain during the install process... but appreciated by the pilot...

Best regards,
