Does anyone know a good source for this exhaust clamp/bracket? As you can tell, it is broken.

We are also tracking down the oil leak :)

Thanks!

JP,

I would expect the muffler shops would be the place to find that...

Search for aero welders around here.  This should turn up a few suppliers of OHers of exhaust parts...

The aviation aisle at Napa might make a second choice if you need one yesterday...

Can your mechanic weld it?

PP thoughts only, not a mechanic...

I have not see one clamped in that location. Check your IPC it may not be required. Looks like some one had the idea for it to be rigid when it needs to move.

Interesting point Matt!

It is usually connected to piece of rubber, often part of an old tire...

I can’t tell from the pic what the flexy part is made of...

The rubber flexy part has been discussed around here before... might also be able to find the bits and pieces at aircraft spruce...

Best regards,

That is the correct clamp location and the shock mount rubber strip looks correct.  Should have a AN3-5A where you have a screw. Check the other clamp under cowl flap too and while under there make sure you have the proper bolts and springs See item 14 in Fig 1.

Thanks folks. Very good information. I managed to order the part from Mooney via Lasar. It was around $160.

$160....Ouch.  Mine broke in the same place, the rubber is fine, just the metal adel clamp was broken.  I was able to order 5 of them for $8 on eBay.  I have 4 left if you need one.

Please be advised that the clamp in question is NOT an Adel clamp and does not come close on multiple counts:

- The original clamp has a tang that is about 2" long, that's the part that broke off on the OP

- The original clamp is made of steel - Adel clamps are aluminum.

There IS a reason why the OEM parts cost more ...
