  1. My EDM 830 has mysteriously stopped displaying the MP and RPM "arcs" at the top. I'm still seeing the CHT/EHT as well as the linear gauges on the side. In addition, I noticed my usable fuel changed from 64 gallons to 74 gallons. Very weird. Anyone have any suggestions on how to resolve this issue?
  2. Thanks folks. Very good information. I managed to order the part from Mooney via Lasar. It was around $160.
  3. I always appreciate the insight this board provides. The light in my mechanical gear indicator on my J-model does not come on (well it does sometimes) which implies some sort of loose connection. Of course, with the light out it makes it difficult to see the mechanical indicator. I'm working with my mechanic to figure out how to access the connection. Has anyone had problems with this before and what was the solution besides getting a flashlight to see it ? Thanks! JP Dice N33YZ KBHM
  4. Does anyone know a good source for this exhaust clamp/bracket? As you can tell, it is broken. We are also tracking down the oil leak Thanks! James Paul Dice Birmingham
  5. I have an Aspen setup with STEC-30 AP and Garmin 430W. When I'm commanding the AP with either the heading bug or have GPSS engaged - I notice the turns seem to be at 1/2 bank instead of standard rate. The means the the AP will easily blow through the final approach course on an instrument approach. Is there anyway to change the turn rate on the AP configured with the Aspen? Thanks! JP Dice
  6. I have a 1978 J-Model Mooney with the dual mag single drive setup. This morning I noticed the airplane was not as quick to start as typical. I taxied out to the runway and did my mag check. Left mag - good drop. Right mag - the engine would not run. I had to turn back to left mag to keep it going. First thought was some fouled plugs/carbon build up. I tried leaning it and burning it off. No luck. I had the same problem again. I taxied back to ramp. Mechanic came out (about an hour later) - airplane was very tough to start and was rough on right mag, but would at least remain running unlike before. We removed the cowling. Noticed some oil around the mag and gasket. Not sure if that is related to issue or not. Anyone have any idea what would cause this issue? Until today - there have been no starting or mag issues with the airplane. JP Dice Birmingham, AL.
  7. This may be an absolute silly question, but I'll ask anyway. I know how to do an ILS approach, but I'd like the AP to fly the approach. I have an Aspen Evolution setup (actually 3 screens), STEC 30 AP, and 430W and KX155 for avionics. I will give you the scenario. ATC says maintain 3,000 until established clear for the ILS "xyz" approach. I would like the AP to intercept the final approach course using GPSS and once established on the final approach course I would track inbound on the localizer. I know I can do this using the HDG bug, but will GPSS fly the intercept once I activate the approach. Keep in mind, I don't want GPSS steering to fly the approach - just intercept the localizer. Once I turn inbound, I would switch to VLOC and fly the ILS with STEC 30 in High Track mode. Is this possible? I know how to do with G1000 setup, but not exactly sure with my configuration. Thanks! 8. Com side is perfect. Not sure what the problem is with the NAV signal.
  9. Has anyone experienced the VOR2 being flagged on their Aspen? I have a KX155 driving the VOR2. We replaced the ACU on the Aspen and still receiving the flag. We can hear a morse identifier on the NAV2 via the audio panel so we know we're receiving a signal. VOR1 driven by the 430W is working fine. Any thoughts? JP Dice Birmingham
  10. Very aware floor indicator is mechanical. That is why we held off on landing until we resolved the problem. Floor indicator is our primary gear indicator. The point of my post is the sonalert was actually tripping the gear actuator CB and wondered if anyone had experienced such a strange issue.
  11. Bingo!!! I think that is it. I knew someone would have seen this.
  12. Yes. See above post. Floor indicator did not show gear down. However, control tower saw gear and I felt them. When I pushed CB back in...I got a light and floor indicator showing gear down. The floor indicator is my primary gear check.
  13. Nope. It was the gear actuator CB. In fact, the gear would come down, but I would not get a gear down indication. When I pushed it back in, I immediately go the gear down indication. It was almost the gear almost extended fully and stopped.
  14. On my Mooney M20J, I dropped the gear on downwind today, felt the gear come down, but noticed no gear down indication on annunciator panel or mechanical indicator in floor. I cycled the gear a few times. Each time I could feel the gear retract and extend, but no indications. Turns out the gear actuator breaker had popped. Pushed it in and problem solved. I taxied to maintenance and after some troubleshooting they discovered an odd problem. The A&P noticed when they bumped the gear horn speaker in the ceiling the actuator breaker would pop. Apparently, there is some soft of short circuit. Has anyone ever had such an odd ball problem? Thanks! JP Dice Birmingham, AL
