dcrogers11 Posted September 3, 2011 Report Posted September 3, 2011 Can anyone suggest a place to have my Dukes fuel pump overhauled or exchanged? It has started sounding a bit rough and during my startup this morning, it sounded like it wanted to stop all together. It still engaged and brought the pressure up, but it just doesn't sound right to me. I haven't contacted my A&P yet to schedule the work and was just trying to stay ahead of any problems. In my 64C, the fuel pump has always sounded louder than other planes I have flown over the years but today, it sounded really rough. Thanks, Don Quote
jbreda Posted September 3, 2011 Report Posted September 3, 2011 Do not bother to overhaul. Put in a new Weldon pump per the Mooney retrofit kit number. Better pump and it is new. John Breda Quote
jetdriven Posted September 3, 2011 Report Posted September 3, 2011 I agree with John. Ours is a C&J overhaul and it was about 900$. 6 month warranty, maybe 1 year. If I had to do it over again, I would do a new Weldon for less and no plastic impeller. Peter Lyons had his Dukes pump IRAN repaired for less, search for that. Quote
N9660M Posted September 3, 2011 Report Posted September 3, 2011 I second John's recommendation. Went this route when my pump started leaking last year. It'll cost more, but you'll end up with a better pump. When I was having mine installed, there was another fellow at the MSC who was having his Dukes pump replaced after just overhauling it a year earlier. He wasn't a happy camper. Jim Quote
