jgarrison Posted September 1, 2011 Report Posted September 1, 2011 Anybody know if they are up and running? Phones roll to Matt, not answer as the company name. Been trying for two days now. Quote
hubcap Posted December 21, 2023 Report Posted December 21, 2023 I am resurrecting this thread. Got a call today from a friend who owns a J model. He was in the process of getting his tanks resealed and discovered they were resealed by Midwest M20 some time ago. He also discovered that Midwest M20 used a product that cannot be removed. He is in a bit of a quandary seeing as how the tank is leaking but the old sealant cannot be removed. Wondering if anyone here has any experience with this issue? Quote
hammdo Posted December 21, 2023 Report Posted December 21, 2023 There was a thread on here where some shop used a non removable tank sealant. Hard as a brick. I don’t think the owner found a solution but you may want to try a site search on google. tank sealant removal site: mooneyspace.com Quote

1980Mooney Posted December 22, 2023 Report Posted December 22, 2023 (edited) This says proprietary polyurethane. Edited December 22, 2023 by 1980Mooney Quote
1980Mooney Posted December 22, 2023 Report Posted December 22, 2023 (edited) Lots of confusion here. Suggesting mechanical stripping. Or painting /feather the new polysulfied sealant over-the urethane . Or put in bladders Edited December 22, 2023 by 1980Mooney Quote
hubcap Posted December 22, 2023 Report Posted December 22, 2023 Apparently "Midwest M20" resealed the tanks on approximately 200 Mooneys using this material. It might be worth while to check this on a pre-buy because if you ever have a problem with the tanks leaking or fuel sending units or anything else fuel tank related, its going to be a problem to deal with their proprietary sealant. The STC owner is apparently deceased. 1 Quote
