Invoice arrives today. When you have the 28 V lights in hand, I will pay it.

I’m cool with that. It is easier to track in my ERP when a payment link has been sent. I have to do that with quite a few people so it is a semi-complex administrative exercise.

Does this mean we can all expect our invoice this week ?  Just so I know to watch my spamfolder…

Yes I am working through them in batches, by when they were received. So expect it in the next day or so.

Here are the 14V lamps!

Looking good!

ADDED: Maybe someone can take some comparison pictures of their old one turned on (just long enough to get the pic) and then one after the new LED is installed.

I installed the 14-volt 01-0770303-10 LED recognition lights today. The quality out of the box looked great. The fit was fine, more secure with the square 210409-003 retainer ring. My RH light is missing the retainer.

Before and after photos below. I haven't seen the new ones after dark yet. Hoping to get a little more forward night visibility out of the deal, but we'll see. Either way. I like these lights and had been wanting them for a long time. I'm glad Whelen finally came through.

Looks very cool (wink wink), Brent !

What paperwork did you get with the lights ?

You can download the light drawing off my website. Click on either link and it is there as a .PDF. Installation is done as a minor alteration as there is no certification basis for this lamp assembly. There is no TSO or performance standard for a recognition light.

For anyone that cares…

The melt point and softening point of polycarbonate is much higher than acrylic… almost 100°…

Soooo… it also softens at a much higher temp as well….

Since we aren’t getting a different plastic for our lenses this century… like we could/should….

Holy cow… the existing lightbulb puts out enough energy it can probably destroy Teflon…. :)

YAAAAAAAY the new Recog lights are here!!!

by the way… recog lights on! Even in the day time!!!!  :)

Go Whelen! (and Gallagher Aviation!) for making this happen.

Best regards,

See OSUAV8TER’s post below. That’s more info than I got from my usual parts and supplies vendor.

Easier to get the Whelen LEDs, than a new plastic... but there are some material innovations with good potential for wingtip lenses, and light GA windows, too.

Not selling here, just informing...

The challenge is getting through the list of priorities ahead of light GA, i.e., biz jet demand. OPTICOR is flying on a couple biz jet types, SOLARON is on one.

I was able to talk to Whelen at SnF and they should be shipping them to me later this week. If that holds true, I will be fulfilling orders early next week as fast as I can ship them out.

A friend picked up a set of the 28V lights at the show for me so they have them - just a matter of getting them out the door I would guess. Shouldn't be long now!

Cheers,
Rick

Check the part number and I bet they are the -10 models. They have not shipped from Whelen.

I also stopped by the Whelen booth (as I did at last year's show, when they were "almost ready but didn't quite make it in time for SnF 22" ...). They said they were wrapping up the final testing and would ship in about a week. So likewise, it did not sound to me like anyone had the 28V parts ready to hand out yet.

Turns out I misunderstood and my friend ordered the 28V lights for drop shipment when they're released. I'm back on the same page with y'all.

Looks like we have a long wait for this material…

Sounds really interesting…

and PPG knows the old materials (acrylic) well.

I couldn’t find any chemical name in their brochure.

We should probably contact our window suppliers…. :)

28V lamps are on the move from one Whelen facility to another Whelen facility (Chester to Sebastian). They'll get packaged in Sebastian to ship to me. I'm thinking maybe next Tuesday I can start fulfilling outstanding orders. They will be shipped in the order that they were received as long as you are paid up. International orders I will reserve and reach out to each person separately since shipping and customs adds an extra dimension.
