It seems like there is a strong correlation between OSHKoSH and Mooneys stranded/breaking down over the last couple of weeks.    Is it just me or would there be data to support my theory?

I am/was involved in the Cessna 150/152 group (when I had a Cessna 150) and they have an annual meet up in Iowa each year. The same patterned occurred there as well. My data-less non-scientific theory is that it is a little bad luck with many planes that haven't moved in a while.

Yeah, lotsa guys do their one big flight a year to Oshkosh.  If the crate is going to break, it'll do it then.  Also lots of crashes on the way to an from Oshkosh.

We do plenty of flying through the year, but Oshkosh seems to have a special effect on the plane. 3 years ago when we went the generator went out over WY. This time we have weird engine issues in MN.  This is quite a trip for us (Seattle to OSH).   Most of our trips are up and down the west coast. This is the only one that really takes us far away from support. Our west coast trips have most of our landings at airports with good support or easily called out from nearby so we're less likely to get severely stuck. Middle America has a lot more airports with little or no available services which means much more likely to get stuck.

Also, Oshkosh is just a lot of planes in the air at once much more than normal. So that will for sure drive an increase in stranded planes.

Our Oshkosh acomadations were shall we say “less than optimal”Think staying with your 85 year old uncle who has decided to never throw anything away! After 3 nights of odd smells, sounds of little critters scurrying arround ,My wife said take me out of here!!Result ..stranded at Spearfish canyon rather than flying straight home to make it up to my copilot.

Way better than reading about and helping a Mooneyspace member make a purchase decision on a Missile.  Looks swanky (and the property looks decent too)

I know that area well.   Spearfish falls is usually pretty this time of year and is a very short walk away, and Roughlock falls is also very nice and a short drive up the road.    I don't know whether the Latchstring Inn, across the street, still sells Bison ribeye, but it used to be really good there.   Lots of cool stuff in the northern Hills.
