elimansour Posted February 13, 2019 Report Posted February 13, 2019 Hi All. I am trying to locate the correct fire extinguisher to mount in my '98 Mooney Allegro. It has a notch under the back seats with a metal bracket but I am not sure which extinguisher to purchase. Is there a specific model that needs to be purchased or should I just measure and go with in that direction. Sorry for the mundane question. Quote
LANCECASPER Posted February 14, 2019 Report Posted February 14, 2019 It doesn't look like the ones mentioned in the parts book from the 90's are available anymore. It looks like the 352T became the C352TS. Here's the new one (you might need a new bracket?) If your is already the 352T, you won't need the bracket: https://search.skygeek.com/?vwcatalog=stylespilotshop&keywords=H3R+Aviation+Model+C352TS&x=0&y=0#jmui=f%3A213%3A305419896%3AbDyGVKuX%bpkIP5u*X5gX18. With my discount at Aircraft Spruce I can get it shipped to you for $241.53 This explains the difference between the 1200 and the c352TS: https://www.h3raviation.com/downloads/rta1200-vs-c352ts.pdf 3 Quote

320KPH Posted February 16, 2019 Report Posted February 16, 2019 I thought of a Stephen Coonts book that mentioned the effects of Halon on humans and I found an interesting site regarding this issue. https://www.skybrary.aero/index.php/Halon_Fire_Extinguishers Where a portable Halon extinguisher is used by cabin crew, it is usually recommended to consider donning a smoke hood before discharging it so as to eliminate this risk, but for pilot use on the flight deck, this will not be an option and risk awareness is the only defence. The fumes are toxic if inhaled and all practicable precautions should be taken when they are used. 1 Quote

ArtVandelay Posted February 16, 2019 Report Posted February 16, 2019 Do they use Halon anymore, thought it was replaced by a more user friendly substitute:Tom Quote
carusoam Posted February 16, 2019 Report Posted February 16, 2019 A more EPA friendly substitute... expect ozone depletion to be the issue...? -a- Quote
