BigD Posted December 10, 2018 Report Posted December 10, 2018 I’ve been looking through my 1965 M20C POH and service manual and have found no reference to any way to bleed flaps without use of pressure pot, no reference to any “self bleeding.” Can anyone point me in right direction? I’ve read most threads on subject, seen a variety of methods ranging from traditional to what appeared to be simple yet genius. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
carusoam Posted December 10, 2018 Report Posted December 10, 2018 This may help you get started... From a really old memory... of my old M20C... Mechanic and I changed some old hydraulic return hose for the flaps... allowed lots of air into the flap system (before the hose got removed) Lots of pumping from in the cabin, combined with mechanical exercise of the flaps from outside, flow of hydraulic fluid was restored over a few cycles of the flaps.... Self bleeding, or I may have just got lucky... PP thoughts only, not a mechanic. Best regards, -a- Quote
1964-M20E Posted December 10, 2018 Report Posted December 10, 2018 I've change hoses on my flaps before as well. Yes they will self bleed but you do need to help them some with a pressure pot. I takes some time. Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted December 10, 2018 Report Posted December 10, 2018 I have found if you cycle the flaps a bunch of times at high altitude (12000) it will work a lot if not all the air out of the system. I think this is because the air bubbles are much larger and flow through the system better. Quote
RLCarter Posted December 10, 2018 Report Posted December 10, 2018 Air will eventually work its way "up"..... But why not just follow the procedure in the maintinace manual? Quote
BigD Posted December 10, 2018 Author Report Posted December 10, 2018 We are following maintenance manual. Just curious. Thanks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
