I have a 1999 Eagle with the basic control wheels and no leather cover.  I flew in a new Acclaim last weekend and really liked the look and feel of the current Mooney wheels.  Anyone know (a) can you interchange to the current style; and (B) what does it cost to do.  I know that I could send mine out to San Antonio and have the current ones covered in leather and that may be the only economical way.  But, if anyone has experience on this I would appreciate it.

On a separate but related issue, I am considering upgrading from my KLN-94 GPS and my Honeywell 155a to a Garmin 530.  I know that the headliner has to come out for the upgrade and some surgery in the panel but at least it will fit.  I am curious what people have been charged for the upgrade.  I got an estimate of about $17,500 - $19,000 to do it.  Pretty strong amount of money for something that only gives me a little bit of utility but the GPSS won’t work with the KLN-94 and I really want to get it working.

Docket--

That seems high to me. I just looked at Gulf Coast Avionics, and they advertise ~$14,196 installed in production aircraft.

I just had a 430W and a Century GPSS installed in my '80 201 locally (McKee Avionics, San Marcos), and the total cost was $12,500. The labor for both units' installation should be almost the same. I already had the appropriate coax cable, so that wasn't included, but I think they have to remove the headliner to install the cable required for WAAS capability, slightly increasing the labor.

What auto pilot do you have? Does the price include installation of a GPSS unit? If so, it's about right. If you're pulling the 94 and 155A out, they shound get you about $3K.

docket, I had Aero Comfort cover my 201 yokes a couple of months ago and they turned out wonderfully.  1 week turn, and great craftsmanship.  I'm afraid buying new yokes from Mooney will make you gasp for breath when you see the price.

i have some leather yoke covers and they are very nice for not much money.  i will get the make when i fly tomorrow for you.  probably a much cheaper option  but a nice result - look and feel great.
