N3417X Posted December 6, 2016 Report Posted December 6, 2016 My landing gear Is having issues going up. I usually have to get to around 120mph before it goes up. Has anyone had to install an override switch, and if so, where did you get the parts? Quote

For the gear to retract with an squat switch the gear must be fully extended down. Lubricate the gear to insure is fully extended while in flight. José 1 Quote
DVA Posted December 6, 2016 Report Posted December 6, 2016 Which mooney model? 120kts exceeds the gear retraction V speed by a large margin. Most models have a retraction speed around 105 knots. You don’t want to cause other issues by attempting to retract at those higher speeds. 1 Quote
mike_elliott Posted December 6, 2016 Report Posted December 6, 2016 A 66 E with electric gear, i'll bet it has a squat switch. That switch is not releasing, most likely because the gear donuts are not expanding in the colder wx., because they are old and compressed. I could be wrong, but have seen this as the cause numerous times. 3 Quote
Ron McBride Posted December 6, 2016 Report Posted December 6, 2016 My 69F has an airspeed switch. Was replaced last year by Lasarmod. Over $600.00. They also installed a bypass switch for me. This is a safety issue, get it fixed. At density altitude, you will not go fast enough to reach 120 with the gear down. Should be set for about 75 - 80 mph. Ron Quote
tony Posted December 6, 2016 Report Posted December 6, 2016 My 68F has an airspeed switch as well. If you want to go obtain a field approval, you can bypass it with a single pole, single throw switch. Quote
TTaylor Posted December 7, 2016 Report Posted December 7, 2016 In my albums. The switch is a secondary safety, time to replace your gear doughnuts and clean and adjust your squat switch. 1 Quote
