Mark89114 Posted October 11, 2016 Report Posted October 11, 2016 I have a ovation 2 with the 310 hp upgrade and the new primary electronic tachometer but my moritz gauge is showing 3000 rpm plus on TO and eventually settles down to proper reading but still fluctuates a lot, think of it as an average reading.... I really like the moritz gauge and I know they are problematic but before I give up on it completely, anything so I can check easily? Do the independent gauges use the same sensor? I suspect the gauge is bad, but really trying to avoid that scenario. Quote
N131MA Posted October 12, 2016 Report Posted October 12, 2016 I have the same issue with my 310HP Eagle but I did not fix it yet. I believe the new primary tach gets the signal from the p-lead. The Moritz gauge gets the signal from a sensor in one of the mags. The Moritz gauge shows rpm with the analog indicator and the digital number. Do both show the 3000 RPM? If so, you may want to check the cable connection from the sensor to the gauge. Quote
carusoam Posted October 12, 2016 Report Posted October 12, 2016 Use the search function for the tach sensor on an IO550. You may find some good news and / or the cost of replacement. There have been a few that have gone awry over the past few years... Best regards, -a- Quote
