I have a 1949 Piper Clipper my cousin tore apart to restore then died of a heart attack in his late 40's.  It's in pieces but will be my next aviation project when the Lancair is done ( after a ton of deferred honey do's are done).  That will be my local "fly out for breakfast or lunch" airplane.
