rblauson Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 Im having issues with my dash lighting on my 77'M20J--Fuse keeps blowing--avionics shop has tried most everything to fix it to no avail. I have found this to be common among older Mooneys. I am ready to try something new like Ring Lighting.Im ready to retrofit and Ring Lighting sure sounds good on paper but Id really like to know what it really costs, how many instruments you need to backlight (if not all of them), how easy they are to install, what they really cost, do the NuLites have any worthwhile competition and why? Yes many questions, but I trust the Mooney owners answers!! Thank you and Happy Tday to everyone! Mark Quote
tony Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 whats the current draw on that circuit? Quote
N601RX Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 We replaced our original panel and replaced the old lights with Nulites. They work very well and take a couple of hours to install. However just replacing the lights may not fix your problem. You will still be reusing much of the original wiring and dimmer. Quote
danb35 Posted November 26, 2010 Report Posted November 26, 2010 Didn't you just post this in the General forum? In any event, though, Mike is right--if you're blowing fuses, just replacing the instrument lights isn't likely to solve the problem. Quote
laytonl Posted November 27, 2010 Report Posted November 27, 2010 NuLItes work great. Spruce has a great little dimmer that many Mooney folks have used to replace their stock dimmers. I haven't made the change, but will do so when my dimmer craps out. Lee 11-06675 TWO CHANNEL PWM DIMMER $43.50 Quote
