AC 91.74B was just approved on 10/08/2015. It cancels all previous A/Cs on the subject

It contains everything you ever wanted to know or learn about aircraft and icing.

Of particular note are a few sentences in Chap 5, Paragraph 5-2 to be exact. In there it states:

"For aircraft not covered by subpart F, there are no specific icing regulations; however, § 91.9 prohibits you from flying without complying with the operating limitations in the POH or placards"

Subpart F deals with large or turbojet aircraft and Pt 91 Fractional ownership airplanes.

This A/C is 63 pages long. Lots of it does not concern us but there is lots of good information and education throughout the publication.

It is a good read and review

Newer aircraft from about 2000 are more likely to have specific restrictions in the POH or placards.

Maybe all Mooneys need to be operated to those newer restrictions?

Thanks for sharing.

All the references I can find are for the draft.  Do you have a link to the final document, or has it even been released yet?

Everything I want to know about icing:  stay away from it! So I just need to know conditions that favor it's formation--I already know how to deviate, turn around and stay on the ground.

that being said, some folks here have one or the other version of weeping wings, hot props, etc. Good information is always nice to have. Thanks for posting this, I may read it anyway.  ;)

Anyone else notice they include Flight Watch as a source of in flight weather?  I thought this thing was supposed to be up to date.

From AOPA:

"... the universal Flight Watch frequency 122.0 MHz for in-flight weather services on Oct. 1. Weather services provided under the Flight Watch program En route Flight Advisory Service (EFAS) will continue to be provided via charted frequencies pilots use to obtain weather information..."

122.0 is terminated, not the service availability.
